Possible Scam

I assume anyone contacting you out of the blue with a Gmail address, instead of a professional email, isn't legitimate.
I know Nissie through Book Haven, where she serves as a moderator. I have interacted with her through the community, and she is not a scammer. Reaching out to an author or reader about a Book Haven activity does not automatically make someone a scammer. If you have concerns, ask questions and verify the information before making accusations.
I think reaching out to people about books, reading groups, or community activities is part of what she does. You may not be interested in an offer, and that is completely fine, but that is different from calling someone a scammer without evidence.
As noted in my post, I said "possible scam". The person has now asked for money and refuses to do a Zoom call to verify their identity.

That said, I don't think it is fair to label someone a scammer simply because they reached out or because their participation involves a support fee. I have come across reviews from readers who mention being part of Nissie's community, although I can't say with certainty that every one of those readers is from the same Book Haven community being discussed here.
The simplest thing to do is verify who she is and ask for her official website or other public information connected to the community. If there is still uncertainty after that, people can simply choose not to participate.
I think it's better to verify first and make conclusions afterward rather than call someone a scammer based only on suspicion.

Nissie Lambert - nissie.havengroupmoderator AT gmail
offering to help promote my book, Lost Valley - Lost Innocence.
Is there any way I can confirm this is really Nissie?
Thanks,
