Welcome, Shelby! I don't think that makes you a cheater, more a bit a protector of yourself? If I make sense?
Last year or so, I started reading 'It' at work, working the night shift and it was dark. It gave me the creeps and I thought 'Why am I reading this now at work and not safe at home?' and I never picked it up again. But I'm planning on reading it, though.

At age ~13 I would read It before bed, and when scared I would tell myself I would just keep reading until I reached a not-scary part so I could stop there to go to sleep. There was no not-scary part.
I know what you mean, Marc. I waw about that age when I read Children of the Corn
I will never look again at a corn field like I did before.

I'm reading IT for the first time. The beginning is honestly more sad than spooky as I'm sure we all know But I have already hit some pretty disturbing chapters and topics. Beverly's introduction was particularly hard to read for me.
I truly am such a fan of Stephen and the movies and even Welcome to Derry, but I'm not sure if I can do it. I've been skimming the "worst" parts. Does that make me a cheater?!
