WindowSwap is a project by Sonali Ranjit and Vaishnav Balasubramaniam. It lets you use your browser to watch a video of a window and its unique view from different locations across the globe.

There are windows from all over: there’s a rainy street in Thailand, a mountain view from Switzerland, a busy street in London, a cat watching birds in Qatar, a view of the city skyline in Singapore, and an almost panoramic view of the ocean from Oahu.

Would one of these windows remind you of a book?

How this challenge works:
* Click on the WindowSwap link https://www.window-swap.com/Window
* Use that window to find a book. It could be the location, the submitter's name, the month or year the window scene was posted, an object in the window, the weather,
the time of day, or something that happens.

Describe to us in your post what window you saw and how it helped you choose a book.

If the window doesn't suggest a book to you, you may click on 'Open a window somewhere in the world' up to two more times. But take good notes on the windows that come up! You can't go back.

I got Soothing Rain's Window. It was posted July, 2026 in Smyrna, Georgia, USA.

It was raining. (Really just a hard sprinkle.)
The window was looking down from a 2nd or 3rd floor balcony. I could the balcony below. I could see a plant stand with a few plants, birdhouses and a birdfeeder. I could see part of a chair.

There was a street or driveway, and then across from that, a parking lot with 3 cars in it. There were a few trees bordering the parking lot.

Ideas
MC's name begins with "S" or "R"
Sherlock The Hound of the Baskervilles 10/6 ****
author's name begins with "S" or "R"
Smith To Mourn a Murder 10/4 ***
Stewart Nine Coaches Waiting 10/26 ****
set in Georgia
published in July or 2026
MC lives in an apartment
a 2-word title
from a trilogy
potted plants on the cover
trees on the cover

What I learned about Smyrna, Georgia
it is in the Atlanta Metropolitan Area
settled by pioneers in 1832
named for the Biblical city of Smyrna
two Civil War battles occurred in the area
the city's official symbol is the jonquil

Louise | 13 comments I'm in for this October :)

I got an image from Saint Petersburg, Russia
22:20, July 2026 - Oksana's Window

It's a balcony, and you're looking out at an evening setting - shadowy trees, branches and appartment blocks in the distance - some with illuminated windows.

Ideas

Books set in Russia
Book covers with an evening mood
A title that includes evening or night
Something cozy or sinister - the mood of the image can go both ways

✔ The Black House
