What genre do you avoid—and why?

I avoid self help books. Mainly, I find that they have nothing to say that it is not obvious. So, I find them repetitive.

K.L. Middleton (theunapologeticbookworm) | 89 comments I really don't read westerns, and I'm not a fan of contemporary romance novels or literary fiction. I'm actually really picky about the romance genre in general, and would much rather see it blended with another genre than read something that's just pure romance.

Vicki Willis | 693 comments I do not usually like fantasy - I never understand it.
I also don't like literary fiction- it is too slow.

Cathy (cathepsut) | 892 comments Yes, similar here. No self-help books. Not too keen about literary fiction, unless it‘s a blend with SF for example. Contemnporary romance also very, very rarely. I am ok with romance as part of other genres. YA is also very hit and miss, I rarely truly enjoy it.
