My daughter picked up this book from Target as a wrapped "blind date" book. Of course, I take her books- she takes mine... we share.
I started this yesterday and I couldn't put it down. Again, I listened and read together. I enjoyed the book and it had me gripped but it was a little too smooth (if that makes sense) to be a thriller. I was hoping for heart in stomach, pulse racing rollercoaster story. I would say this was a great mystery- smooth and mild ride.
15 years ago, a tightknit group of 4 girls grew apart. 1 girl died and she was the glue that held them together so 15 years later, the estranged 3 remaining friends come together as evidence of the 4th friend who died is now believed to be under mysterious circumstances. Does that sentence even make sense?
There's mystery. There's magic. I like how the author tied in each girls perspective to weave together the past for the reader. I had a few AH HA moments and once my mouth dropped as the pieces came together for me. The twists were big enough but I wouldn't consider them mind-blowing.
All in all, I liked the book. It was a good blind date. I would "date" Chelsea Iversen again. I think I'll read The Peculiar Garden of Harriet Hunt next.
