There is a lot to unpack.

I won't mention any spoilers but there are some triggers that I was not aware of... because I never think to look. I will say that although I do have sensitivities to certain topics, those triggers for me were mild and tastefully written.

Keith Rosson doesn't pull any punches. You are thrown into darkness of atmosphere and character flaws. A teen disappears 14 years earlier and sets into motion actions that come to a head in a small town. A father trying to find answers and a best friend that carries years of guilt clash as their personal poor choices can't be run from any longer. As dark as the events are, so is the justice that comes to those guilty. Through all the horror, there is a love story at it's heart. As well as a story reminiscent of A Comedy of Errors. It sounds odd, but Keith Rosson executes the mixture with perfection.

I love the how the characters are flawed and raw and real. Sometimes I just want to read a book that shows the dark side of the world. I am tired of the fake-ness in the world; the pretenders that wear rose colored glasses in denial of what's right in front of them. This book scratched that itch.

And for fun, throw in a Crone without the beauty on the outside but so much within... well, setting aside that lovely feminine rage.

I read Coffin Moon earlier this year (?) and was excited when I read a little nod to events in that book while reading Crone. On the flip side of excitement, I did cry at broken hearts and loss. Who knew a horror novel would have me pull out the tissues? Toilet paper, yes, but not tissues.

The story will stay with me and the reason for it explained in the Author's Note.

Keith Rosson is an auto buy author for me. I will read anything he writes. This book is an easy 5 stars from me.
