If Only... discussion

If only you could express how fictional characters, whether or not they are your own, would act in your world! Here you can post what you think your characters, or other famous fictional characters, would do or say in a given situation. Let's hear your wildest imaginings!

If only people wouldn't think I'm crazy when I tell them that my original characters talk to me in my head. It's all part of being a writer! One of my characters, Damius, always talks to me and gives me good advice. Sometimes he even gives me ideas for my story!

If only I could hear your funny,sad, or serious fantasies about any character! Post away!

If only you're characters were real. I want to meet them badly man. You know ask them the burning questions I have. Reading about them is the close as I can get... Emily you have got to write more! Please:D See you got me all worked up!

If only I could thank you enough! I feel so flattered that you like my characters that much.

But if you want to ask them a question, you can use this thread to ask, and maybe they'll pop out of my head and respond. :P

If only I could say that is totally....AWESOME!!!!!!! well I guess I just did didn't I? I'm gonna phrase them just right... you just wait and see. If I were to do it right now it would sound really incoherent. Not good. But be ready the questions will come!

If only the characters would sometimes be quiet. :P Man, Seth is so talkative sometimes. Julie and Luke usually tone it down when I ask, but Seth has no concept of "quiet time". Haha. But you can ask them any questions as well. I love letting them have their voices.

If only .....this is sooooooooooooooooooooo exciting!!! Man my head is whirling right now:D

Damius says "Very well then. Seth, how can your bird pet talk? Such things are impossible to me. Birds are but beasts in an untamed land."

If only you had questions to ask of characters, or make your own characters talk. You can speak from any character, even if it's not your own. You can talk as if it were Harry Potter even! Any character will do.

If only...Seth could respond.

He says, "Well duh, almighty creator." Seth has a bit of a smart-ass mouth.

He also has a sharp knife. So yeah.

Seth says, "I trained him. Crows can talk, y'know, they're definitely damn smart enough. He started making word-like sounds when he was little, and by talking to him aloud he started mimicking me. He never could tell me how he made the leap by putting his thoughts into words. But now he can talk almost as well as any human, although I swear he can't pronounce his 'r's very well. Oh, and he's not a pet, my friend. He's my bond, my best friend, and my good old partner-in-crime."

If only crows could talk, then Damius replies, "But can he understand the words that he mimicks? If so, then that is a true feat. I do appreciate miracles, for they are quite rare to me."

Oh Damius, always the pessimist.

If only Seth would stop leaning all lazily...Seth is leaning against the wall by the computer.

"That's rough then. Everyone needs a few miracles. Anyway, I think he understands what he's saying, or he's learned to. Otherwise there have been a whole lot of coincidences." He's chuckling and doing this lopsided grin (which I happen to find kinda adorable, don't kill me Seth). "I guess it is a pretty amazing thing, but I've always had faith in him. Even among bird bonds, I'd say he isn't ordinary."

Damius says, "I had a miracle once, and her name was Amira. But from my experiences I know that miracles are too great to be true. So if your bird friend is truly extraordinary, hold him close, for someday you may lose him."

Seth is looking at Damius a little warily. Seth is suspicious of pessimists. "I'll always take care of Corax. And if something happens to him, then hey, it's going to happen to me to. That's the way it works."

Seth says, "I don't care. This is a damn good cookie, and I don't even care that because I should technically be in an alternate fictional world right now, I can't be eating a cookie. Mmm...chocolate. Want some Corax?"

Icarus just stole Seth's cookie. Julie's laughing hysterically...I think she encouraged him. As if one bird-human fight wasn't enough.

If only I could eat chocolate and not get sick. Maybe I'm part bird!
If only I could finish a story. I come up with so many good story ideas but I can never finish any! And then the characters bug me at night, keeping me up, as if they are demanding I finish their stories!

If only you could finish them! You can do it, we all believe in you. Even if it is unfinished, just jot them down. Rough drafts make the world go round. Keep at it, and, if you write anything, make sure to send us a link! :D

Ok so Damius will you marry me? It's ok you don't have to answer that but a girl can try right?
Amira what is the one thing that most attracts you to Damius? He's brooding looks or his numerous good attributes.
Now one for Seth. What are you really thinking about most of the time? and Corax are you really behind all his snarky remarks? Julie how do you deal with it all seriously!?! Luke what is that you most value with your friendship with Julie? BTW you are so sweet!

That was Seth, not me. :) Seth says that most of the time he thinks in the moment, which at the most basic level means surviving life. The rest of the time he thinks about Corax, and the kinds of stuff he'd like to steal. He thinks he's a simple kind of guy.

He would also like to take credit for all of his snarky remarks, thank you very much. He thinks whatever snark Corax has, he learned from Seth. I think they just chose each other because of that.

Julie says that sometimes it is very difficult to deal with two exasperating guys and a lot of danger (Luke and Seth are rolling their eyes), but somehow she manages. She's a pretty tough girl.

Luke says that what he values most is the fact that Julie is always there for him. She's always thinking about things will affect him, sometimes even before herself. He counts on her just to stand with him when he needs her.

If only you could see the look on Damius' face.

He says, "I apologize, Cara. You are a truly kind person, but my one love lies with Amira. Therefore I cannot marry you. But I know that your kind heart will seek out a great man for you."

And Amira says, "Physically, the one thing that attracts me to Damius is his small, half smile, that one that always gives me a tingle in my stomach. But as for his character, what I love about him most is his passion, his bravery, and his promise to protect me."

If only I could thank you guys enough! So maybe I am a little dissapointed *sniff* but really I like Damius so much because of his love for Amira. I cracked up so much when I read what you guys had to say:)
Sorry Seth for giving false credit to Corax. I'll remember from now on.
I'll let questions slow down for now...:D Thanks so much for sharing you're guys stories with me. It means a lot. Seriously you both are SO talented!

Just think of ANYTHING, write it down, and show us. I'm sure it won't be as bad as you think! Believe in yourself!

Talamar is giving an overly elaborate and sardonically ingratiating bow in greeting, seeing as I just forced him to introduce himself.
He says "I wouldn't introduce myself if I didn't want too. My greetings, everyone. I am Prince Talamar of the moroi."

If only Machiko wasn't such an anime character she could chat properly with the others.

Damius approaches Prince Talamar and nods his head in greeting. He then says, "My humblest greetings, Prince Talamar. And welcome."

Erever wishes that he could speak to Machiko.

If only I could show my appreciation!

Machiko comes forward and shyly says, "Hello"

If only Machiko wasn't so shy!

Erever steps forward and says, "Greetings, Machiko. Please do not fear my grotesque appearance, for I was not born this way."

If only I could change her character...oh right it does when she gets her cat ears and tail!
Machiko:"I live with a werewolf believe me I'm no stranger to weird appearances."
Caius:"Hey I resent that remark about weird appearance miss trying to hide her cat ears!"

If only!

Erever chuckles to himself. "Then let me fully present myself in the light." He stepped forward, revealing his unnatural wolflike body, and bowed low in respect.

If only I could laugh! We both have wolf characters!

Caius:"Hey awesome dude!"
Machiko:"Oh not another one!"

If only I could laugh too!

Erever suddenly looks sad. He says, "I apologize, but I am not a wolf like you think I am. No, this... disgusting body is corrupted and dead. My flesh rots away beneath my fur. My figure is distorted... I am a Canis. Something far less beautiful than a wolf, believe me."

"If only my title didn't follow me," says Talamar, mentally berating himself for giving a full introduction. He has a taste for the dramatic that sometimes emerges at the worst of times. He decides he likes Damius. He grins, suddenly a lot more friendly. "Talamar, please. Grammercy, Damius, for your welcome."
He then inclines his head to Machiko, Erever and Caius, trying to overcome his distaste for werewolves in general - he knows they are different than those in his own world. "And greetings to you, as well."

If only I could say I feel really sorry for Erever.

Machiko covers her mouth in horror, "That's aweful." she whispers.
Caius:That's most unfortunate. Is there anything that can be done?

If only I could appreciate Talamar's kindness. Which I do!

Damius smiles a small, half smile, and says, "Talamar it is then. And well met once again."

Erever looks towards Talamar. "greetings", he growls. His face twists back in what seems to be a friendly grin.

Machiko's emotions get the better of her and her cat's ears and tail pop out.
"Nya!" she exclaims.
Caius laughs.
"Pleased to meet you too Talamar." he says extending his hand.

If only Talamar wasn't immature for a 150 year old vampire prince.

Talamar grins back at Erever, revealing elongated canines. His ochre eyes regard the Canis with wary anticipation. He doesn't generally pity people. (My feelings are different, Erever!)
He turns to Machiko and Caius, finally figuring out what Caius wants and shaking his hand.
"Could you tell me if you take any other forms?" He asks Machiko, keeping his voice harmless and smooth. "I know a kitsune, you see."

If only I knew what a kitsune is.

"No, so far as I know this is my only other form, it's so embarrassing because it makes my whole character change." Machiko says, "And what's a kitsune exactly?"
Caius pulls his hand away finally realizing what Talamar is, (he distrusts vampires).

If only I knew what you meant by character change.

Talamar gives Caius a wry grin, not having been very comfortable being friendly either.
"A kitsune is a fox with up to nine tails, depending on his or her experience," he tells Machiko. "She can turn into a human as well, but my own friend sometimes forgets to change her ears and tail. Tails," he ammends, smiling a little at the memory. It is a grave insult to point out that a kitsune has less than nine tails. "Could you clarify 'character change'?"

If only you hadn't asked that. Get ready.

"Why do I have to clarify anything?!" Machiko complained, "My character changes as in I get a different personality. More outgoing and assertive. And if you get me mad. Well I act like this!"

"Now you've done it!" Caius groaned.

If only Talamar didn't find this funny and alarming.

Talamar bowed, hiding a small smile. Machiko reminded him of his friend the kitsune (she never told him her name) "My apologies, Machiko. I did not seek to offend."
He cast a quick glance at Caius, hoping for some approval or advice despite himself.

Caius understood what he was asking and he gave him a grimace that said "she'll go back to normal eventually".

Machiko glared haughtily at Talamar,
"Apology accepted" she sneared.
