Today's the first day of December. Anybody bought anything new yet? Well what are you waiting for! lol
It's been fun reading about everyone's purchases for the month so let's keep it going.

Michelle Gilmore | 510 comments I got out of work early today, and couldn't help but stop buy the used bookstore. I know I said I'd calm it down for December, but I'm an addict. So, today I bought :

Because Your Vampire Said So (Broken Heart Vampires, #3) by Michele Bardsley Wait Till Your Vampire Gets Home (Broken Heart Vampires, #4) by Michele Bardsley The Bride and the Beast (Fairy Tales 2) by Teresa Medeiros The Nerd Who Loved Me (Nerds, #2) by Vicki Lewis Thompson Waltz With A Vampire (Zebra Regency Romance) by Maggie Mackeever Some Like It Wicked (Kincaid Highlander 1) by Teresa Medeiros Some Like It Wild (Kincaid Highlander 2) by Teresa Medeiros A Kiss to Remember (Fairleigh Sisters 1) by Teresa Medeiros Trouble in High Heels (Fortune Hunter, Book 1) by Christina Dodd with the exception of 2, they were all $0.75 - $1.95 per book and I couldn't resist!
Then found these in the mail when I got home. I got them off ebay last month:

Danger in a Red Dress by Christina Dodd Close to You (Lost Texas Heart Trilogy, Book #3) by Christina Dodd and Thigh High (Fortune Hunter, Book 3) by Christina Dodd

For the rest of this month I'm going to work on getting a head start on my New Year resolution of reading at least 4 or 5 books that I already own before going out and buying another.

What a nice surprise. Some Girls Bite was delivered from Bookdepository today. That starts me off for December with one, one book. Hahahahaha. [Accompanied by thunder and lightning:] (Please tell me you some of you guys still remember Sesame Street ;-) )

message 4: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (26kathryn) | 42 comments I said to myself I wasn't going to buy any books now until after Christmas in case somebody gets me some as presents, but I couldn't resist going in to the second hand book shop. They were all less than £2 each though which is good.
Isabel's Daughter by Judi Hendricks Skull Session by Daniel Hecht Danger in the Shadows by Dee Henderson Live Bait by P.J. Tracy

You'll need to check the 'bought' or 'read' shelf but this is a reminder the shelf your books =D!

Unapologetic_Bookaholic No books for me so far. I was so busy reading [challenges, for swaps:] that I didn't buy any books last month. I think that was a first since I started reading LOL!!

I'm trying really hard not to buy anymore until the end of the current count off challenge :)

message 10: by LooLoo (new)

LooLoo I bought my first book for Dec.. Swallowing Darkness (Meredith Gentry, #7) by Laurell K. Hamilton . I used my Borders coupon and gift card so no cash out. I also got two books in the mail that I purchased from half.com in Nov. but I counted them in last month's total.

I brought home 12 used books from the library this weekend as well as another new one from Borders: Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause. 15 books in the first week, I'm right on pace, huh? :-)

message 12: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Gilmore | 510 comments Are the books on bookdepository.com used or new? I figure in anybody knows, it'd be someone here, lol.

Yes you are on pace!!! Never before this group, have I come across a group of people who have no shame about buying 50-100 books in a month, and I love it!!

They're new and come with no charge for shipping or handling often at great prices like up to 50% off sometimes and usually within a reasonable delivery time. A great site for book buying addicts like us.

Thanks Joseph. I've been searching for a reasonable priced copy of Christine Feehan's Magic in the Wind (Drake Sisters, #1), and the cheapest I could find it was $20 plus s/h used. I just wasn't willing to pay that much for any used pb romance novel. Out of print or not, I don't consider it rare enough or antique so that was out. I just can't see spending that, especially when $2.99 is stamped on the front! Part of the thrill for me is buying my books cheap. Anyway, I really wanted to get it as its the first in the Drake Sister's series. Someone suggested bookdepository.com, and I found it for $1.48 and free shipping. I also purchased White Witch, Black Curse for $3. Not bad for new books. I'll add them the "bought in 12/09" shelf when they arrive, which I hope is before Christmas, we'll see.

LooLoo Michelle - I just looked those two books you bought on bookdepository and the Feehan book says sold out and the Harrison book is $3.99 for me. We live in the same country, same state even. I wonder what is up with price difference?

You know what, the Harrison book is $3.99 for me too, I just checked my order confirmation. Sorry. Hmmmm.... I hope that the Feehan book wasn't a mistake. My order supposedly went through last night. Prior to that, I went on half.com (after I saw it your post about your LKH buy :P) looking for Magic in the Wind, went to check out and was told item was no longer available from seller. That made me so mad, I really want that book!! I have the next three in the series and won't read out of order.

By the way, I went to McKay's the other day (my little piece of Heaven on on earth!) and noticed that the prices on some of there paranormal romance books are like $4.95 and even $5.25, and the books are just in ok to acceptable condition. What's up with that?! I love McKay's, practically live there, but If I'm going to pay that much, I may as well add an extra dollar or two and buy new.

message 19: by LooLoo (new)

LooLoo You probably got the last one of the Feehan book. I wouldn't worry if it's on your order confirmation. Great deal on that book!

I like Half.com sometimes. It's a better deal if you can buy more than one book from the same seller since the shipping price is a fixed rate for the first book but discounted for each book after that. I resort to them when I can't find it anywhere else.

message 20: by LooLoo (new)

LooLoo Yeah, that gets me about McKays. I've been griping about their urban fantasy prices all year. We stopped by there Friday and I saw all the Sookie Stackhouse paperbacks for $6.25 each and a couple of Neil Gaiman where that much and they were very worn books. Most of the other UFs were $5 and up. I was showing my husband and telling him I could order most of those new from bookdepository.com for $4 or less and no sales tax.

That is why I like Mr. K's used books more. They give at least 50% off PNR and 40% off UF. Now that I've said that they'll up their prices. Downside is they are a tiny bookstore compared to McKays so a lot less to offer.

LOL!!! I know what you mean. It's only because I raved about my books for a nickel that Mckay's raised their prices. I did spend $5.25 for a Neil Gaiman at McKay's last month, and I've been upset with myself ever since. They rarely have any of his books, and I got too excited.

CD | 170 comments Delivered yesterday
[image error]
Under the Dome A Novel
I started King's latest right away!

I have two books currently winding their way through the shipping portals of NA:
West with the Night by Beryl Markham
West with the Night

and
A Quiet Life (Bainbridge, Beryl) by Beryl Bainbridge
A Quiet Life

That later was a recent 'discovery' and the Markham book has long been one 'to-read'.

Both of those in transit are from small booksellers that list them as new.

Another delivery from BookDepository: Black Magic Woman (Quincey Morris, #1) by Justin Gustainis
Not the common great deal of 50% off but still better than I could find elsewhere like Amazon or Borders.

Two more deliveries today that I got basically for free with a gift card from Amazon:

Good Eats The Early Years by Alton Brown

That takes me up to 18 so far.

Kind of easy to do when you work in a library. :-)
I basically get first dibs on newly withdrawn books.
Add in the Borders and Amazon gift cards I've got plus how inexpensive BookDepository is, and is it really that big a surprise? ;-) Truth is, I'm the poster boy for bibliomaniacs, aren't I? lol

message 27: by Susan (Suz) (new)

Susan (Suz) (sharney) Nice work Joseph!:) I am proud to say I have yet to buy a book so far this month, but that will end soon as I'm getting Divine Misdemeanors (Meredith Gentry, #8) by Laurell K. Hamilton as soon as I get a borders 40% off coupon!!! :)

message 28: by [deleted user] (last edited Dec 07, 2009 01:33PM) (new)

Definitely the poster boy. And it sounds like people know about your obession, too...if you're getting gift cards. I keep asking for Half-price Books gift cards for Christmas. I think it's going to be coal again this year!

Well, congrats on the books. I've only bought one this month, but now I feel challenged...

LooLoo Michelle next time I'm in Nashville can I come browse your personal library? Do you trade your books back in at McKays? Maybe we could work out a deal, hehehe. You've got some books I've been looking for.

Lol! Anytime!! I'm always happy to talk about books, buy books, read books, trade books etc.... I'm obsessed with searching for used books on Amazon and Borders marketplace, and I'm really happy to have gotten a copy of Born in Twilight that wasn't too expensive. I have traded books in at McKays in the past, but I'm not sure if I'll do it again anytime soon. Seeing the paranormal books priced so high when I know they don't usually give you that much credit for your trade makes me think I may be better off either keeping my books, or trading them here on GR.

Michelle Gilmore | 510 comments I bought these on ebay last month, and they were in my mail box today when I got home from work. I really think ebay is my new favorite place to buy books.

Although his story is sad, I don't think you'll be disappointed. I think he's written a follow up book as well. Tomorrow, the search is on!

Savage Ecstasy by Janelle Taylor The Pirate Lord (Lord Trilogy, #1) by Sabrina Jeffries [image error]

And because the book depository cancelled my order for Magic in the Wind by Christine Feehan because they were unable to locate the book in their warehouse, I bought Lover Beware (Includes Drake Sisters, #1; World of the Lupi Prequel) by Christine Feehan because its an anthology which includes Magic in the Wind.
