Hi! My name is Kaitlyn, and I am a Christian who delights in avid reading! I recently finished my masters in biblical counseling at Southern Seminary and grade a little on the side! Some of my favorite topics are theology, biblical counseling, missions, fiction, literature, and how to care well for interpersonal relationships, families, marriages, and in situations of abuse. Here to read and review books as available!

Welcome, Kaitlyn.Biblical counselling is something I’ve only read into from the outside, but it sits exactly where two of my own interests meet — Scripture and psychology. Science and philosophy are the other two I keep circling. I’d be curious, what drew you to it.
Since you mentioned you’re here to review as available: my first book came out in September. Christian non-fiction, 210 pages, taking those same four disciplines each to its own limits, where they turn out to converge rather than compete. What I was attempting was apologetics that shows rather than argues — whether it comes off is for a reader to say.
Given your background in biblical counselling, I’d genuinely value your thoughts, whatever they turn out to be. Free EPUB or PDF if you’d like one, just email me at viljoenthys@gmail.com and say which suits you. If it’s not for you, please don’t feel obliged.
I see we’re already friends here as well, so you’re very welcome to ask anything on my page.

Hi Matthys! Thanks for the welcome and sharing - I would love to read it and will email you! I relate to much of what you shared!
The long and short of it is - I was drawn by my own struggles and witnessing the struggles of others as well as my work in the pro-life field - I’ve worked at a couple different pregnancy centers the past decade (took about a 4 yr hiatus to finish my masters and was not sure if I would go back to that work but here I am again!) So in working with women considering unplanned pregnancy and going through various difficulties and sin struggles, my understanding and realization is that our greatest hope and help is the Lord himself and therefore, ultimately he is our answer! So this has become one of my passions over the greater part of the last decade and I’m working on my certification through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors, which is sort of a biblical counseling alternative to getting licensure thru the state.
Looking forward to reading your new work!
Thanks for the welcome, brother!

Thank you for getting back to me, Kaitlyn.Ten years in that work, with a pause to finish the masters and then a return to it, says more than any statement of belief would. And you did not arrive at that conclusion from a comfortable distance.
Files are in your inbox. Take your time, there’s no deadline on this end.
Blessings,
Matthys
