Here is where you can post your thoughts before, during and after the reading of:

A Quick Bite (Argeneau, #1) by Lynsay Sands

Remember, spoilers are welcome here :D

Cindi (ourtrumpcard) I've previously read this book, which got me hooked on this author. I found A Quick Bite to be hilarious - imagine a vamp aversion to blood! It also intro'd me to "comedic" PNR. This book had very enjoyable characters who struck a chord with me because of how "normal" (I can't explain why this word choice) the family was - brothers looking out for their sister, everybody deferring to Mom, etc. No worldbuilding to speak of because it was our world, just with French vamps.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 168 comments I read this one last year, having had so many recommendations for the author. Unfortunately, it just didn't appeal. I didn't find it anywhere near as funny as everyone else seems to, and I never really cared what happened to the characters. It's not that it was poorly written, it just didn't work for me. As a result, I've never read any more Lynsay Sands. Possibly I just prefer my vampires more dark and tortured.

Joelle | 47 comments Get ready..Cindi...here I go again... I absoulutely hated it..It seems this month is just not my month...The heroine is 200 and never realized if she closes her eyes when she drinks blood she won't faint at the sight of it?? Really! The author spent way too much time describing insignificant things, the Hero was an airhead so fitting for his airhead heroine who just recently learned to close her eyes.... mid way through I was thoroughly bored, what happened to the good days?

message 5: by Cindi (new)

Cindi (ourtrumpcard) I vaguely remember the good old days myself! I agree this was def an airhead book; that's partly why it struck me as funny. I have to be "in the mood" to read Sands, I'll admit.

Joelle | 47 comments I guess I wasn't it the kind of mood needed for a book like this when I picked it up , I"ll have to try her again when I am in a better mood....who knows when that will be. I haven't been in the kind of mood I think required for a book like this since I was a teen,I guess I need to connect with my inner child.

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 105 comments I thought it was cute. Sands is definitely in the fluff category, at least up to where I am in the series.

I thought this one had enough amusing moments with Marguerite and the cousins to keep me interested.

I will admit, though, that I started these out of order. Had I begun with Quick Bite, I may not have continued.

Lucern and Kate, I think their book is Single White Vampire. THEY made me crack up the whole way through.

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 22 comments I knew fairly early on that I wasn't going to like this book much. I tried to see it as a light and funny read but some of what was supposed to be funny was really humiliating for the hero. I hate it when people are publicly embarressed or humiliated, it upsets me. If it happens on TV I have to turn over (I can't watch talent shows -they are the worst) so when it happens in a book I try to skim over it.

Anyway I didn't really care for the characters, they could have lived or died and it wouldn't have bothered me. I think I gave it two stars, it just wasn't my thing.

message 10: by Lady Allison (new)

Lady Allison | 150 comments I didn't think it was that bad, amusing in some parts even, but the part I found more interesting was the point where the human had to actually make the decision to become a vampire for eternity and give up his family & Sands included his (albeit short) thought process as well as the process included in turning. That part is usually left out or the story picks up after someone is turned in other vamp books so it was intriguing to see a new perspective, even if the characters didn't have as much depth as they could have.

Jael ~ *~ Syhren ~* ~ (wwwgoodreadscomprofilejael) As I've been reading this series out of order for a while now. I'm glad I didn't start with this one because it stunk. I read it mainly because i like this series and each book gives you good history and back story on the family. It isn't that surprising when reading out of order but all the same I love the history she gives the family.
