Ok, Todd, you finished this one. I've dragged it out and haven't made much progress, I confess. I see you gave it only two stars. Any comments? Has anyone else gotten further in this one? I confess I find it depressing so I haven't really been inspired to pick it up.

Todd (tekeller) | 55 comments Actually that is my comment as well. I think the writing is a little dull, but even without that it is a depressing script that i think could be explained in one chapter...maybe two.
I was kinda like..i get it! move on! but anyways, maybe it was a little to high minded for me.

Have you seen all the hububb about finding the hidden leonardo painting in florence?

'Xactly. I think she really drags it out too. Just because history is the past doesn't mean it has to be dead. I have a friend who is getting a masters in art history now and she asked me to edit her paper on French architecture. I was afraid it would be dry but she got me really interested! It's all in the way you present it.

Haven't seen the Leonardo stuff. What's up?

Todd (tekeller) | 55 comments They might have found the missing "The Battle of Anghiari" mural behind a hidden wall in Florence's Palazzo Vecchio. Saw a smithsonian documentary on it last night, they are trying to uncover it by early next year. There has only been a drawing of it done, but is it supposadly his greatest work.-

minor story on it here-

Hmmm... but how will they preserve Vassari's work? Interesting mystery.

Todd (tekeller) | 55 comments They are planning on moving it piece by piece, and weirdly enough they say that will be no big deal.

Well, I"m curious. Be a pity if they did all that work and found out it indeed did not stand the test of time or meet the extraordinary praise it has been given. But it's Leonardo after all so any portion of it must be amazing. That would be a great conceptual idea. Create a painting, put it behind a wall and describe it only in words. Whoever bought it could have the right to take the wall down. That one is for free, folks. Not planning on doing it. If the Tate buys it though, I want 50%. ;0)

Todd (tekeller) | 55 comments ha! yep, good idea.
I think the scientist is going to insert small holes in the wall and look at it with cameras, plus he has a new infra red camera that only picks up paint, so he might be able to see the image through the other wall based on depth.

Todd (tekeller) | 55 comments You mean so that you have time to get it all done? yes that would be pretty sweet., it would be cool if you could pick your age to say your done.

Sooo... I could pick this up again if anyone wants to join in. Apparently, I left you hanging, Todd, sorry about that. I wonder what the outcome was indeed for the hidden Leonardo. Will have to look into that. I hate to leave ends untied, and yet here it is 2014, four years later...

I have had the benefit of seeing some of Cole's work recently at The Met. If anyone would like to meet up there sometime and talk about his work, I'd be happy to set it up. I love his skies and the contrast with the landscape, but I keep finding the little figures he adds a bit kitsch.
