Mo | 2 comments Reading Burnt Shaddws by Kamila Shamsie, which begins in Nagasaki when the Atom bomb drops and follows the life of the Japanese woman Hiroko. Our library book club read is 'Eat, Pray, Love' but will read it when others have finished and pass it on!
Do you meet in Shanghai? And where are you based? Mo

Ine (inevanzeeland) | 1 comments Hi all,

Burnt Shaddows sounds interesting; have you finished it yet?

I've just finished Dragon Lady (biography of the empress Cixi) and Zadie Smith's White Teeth, and have just started The Black Swan (about the influence of unforeseeable events).

I'm located in Shanghai and interested in any tips for China books!

Ine

Matthew Gibb | 2 comments I am reading Headhunters On My Doorstep and Gather The Fruit One By One. I live in Taicang where I teach English 4 days a week. I have been in China for 4 years and speak some Mandarin. I am working hard to learn to read and write Chinese now. When does your group get together to talk books?

Gavin Frankle (gavinfrankle) | 1 comments My sister-in-law recently recommended Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend by Matthew Dicks so I'm currently making my way through that. Pretty good so far...
