I am almost finished with this book and find it so funny. It is a parody of life and authors of the time, and she is so very spot-on with her story. You can tell she was quite an observer of human life. So many male/female issues raised in the story are in today's society too. I'm can't figure out why the first who bought publishing rights never put it out to the public. It's great!

Lisa Hickman (lbhick) | 986 comments Lynn, I plan to read this within the next month or so. I have it on my list to fit into a reading challenge, where I have to read a book that was published posthumously. It's been on my shelf for awhile and I'm anxious to get to it.

Ditto to everything Lisa said. I have it on hold at the library in an edition with Persuasion. I plan on reading both.

Stephanie This was not my favorite Austen novel, and I would recommend that readers new to Austen start with some of her more widely-read books, such as Pride and Prejudice or Sense and Sensibility. My first Austen was Mansfield Park for an English Lit class in college, and I really liked that one...much more than Northanger Abbey.
