Okay, so there is this girl in my ward who is amazing, and I love her to death. She has some mental disabilities that make her act like she's about seven years old. Nobody else in my ward is really very nice to her, so I try to be her friend as much as I can, but ever since I gave her my phone number, she has called me about ten times every day about random, rather unimportant things. I don't want to be mean and tell her not to call me anymore, but she's kind of making it hard for me to do anything else. When I don't answer the phone for a while, then I do later, she asks why I've been ignoring her, and sounds all hurt. What can I do? Anybody have any suggestions? I REALLY need them!

I have a cousin with autism who got a cell phone recently, and she does EXACTLY the same thing.
I'm not totally sure... I think you need to ask her politely but firmly not to call you so often. Tell her you're busy and have a lot of things to do (if that's not lying). Does she have a family member she can talk to that lives with her?

Okay, I'll try that. Her mom is going to college right now and her dad works. She has a little brother, but he goes to her grandma's a lot, so she's left in the house alone. I feel kind of guilty when I don't want to talk to her, like I'm letting her down, but I don't want my life to be spent talking on the phone with her, if that makes sense.
Thanks for the advice!

Yeah, I know what you mean. Sorry I can't help more.
My cousin who does the same thing talked to me for 20 minutes once, and it was all extremely random. =\

It's okay, thanks again. I really don't mind talking to her all that much, it's just that she does it so often.
I'm sorry but I don't have any suggestions someday she will thank you for everything you did to go out of your way to be nice to her!
