Jodi walked out onto her back porch and breathed in the fresh air. One of her cats, Flint, rubbed against her legs. She reached down and stroked him.
meg was at the park she was playing with some kids
The cat hissed and Jodi backed away still keeping her hand extended.
"I'm not going to hurt you." she whispered.
"I'm not going to hurt you." she whispered.
The kit hissed again and stractched Jodi's hand.
Jodi winced in pain but she kept still and kept whispering soothingly to the cat. The cat calmed down and started licking her hand.
"That's right." she said carefully reaching out her other hand and petting the cat.

The cat started purring and Jodi smiled.
"There now you were just frightened weren't you?"
She carefully lifted the cat into her lap and started stroking it. She put her scratched hand in her mouth. It had started bleeding slightly and it hurt.

Jodi glanced up in surprise.
"Oh!" she said, "I didn't know anyone else was around."
The cat hissed at the newcommer and hid behind the tree.

"Y...yeah you could say that." Jodi laughed lightly, "I have five at home and I take care of strays when they need it."
Jodi laughed starting to feel more relaxed at being around the boy.
"Yeah it is." she smiled, "They're great company."
"Yeah it is." she smiled, "They're great company."
"Would you like any?" Jodi asked looking meaningfully at the tree behind which the cat was still hiding.
"Oh he's just being difficult." she assured Marx, "I'll get him to calm down again."
She moved around the tree and gently coaked the cat to her again. It took less time than before and she soon had it purring in her arms.
"There we are." she said coming back to Marx, "All happy again. By the way I'm Jodi. What's your name?"

Jodi smiled and placed the calm cat into Marx's arms. It blinked at the change of holder but snuggled into Marx's arms and kept purring.
"There now" Jodi smiled stroking the cat, "He does like you. So will you take care of him?"
"There now" Jodi smiled stroking the cat, "He does like you. So will you take care of him?"
Jodi was starting to lose hope then she got an idea.
"I could help you take care of it today and then check on it periodically." she stopped, blushing, "If that would be ok with you?" she whispered.

"Great!" Jodi said beaming, "Then come with me to my house to get supplies for taking care of him."
She started off in the direction of her house hoping that Marx would follow her.

When they arrived at her house Jodi opened the door and two of her cats came racing out to greet her.
"Hey Trixy, Midget you too really behave more like dogs than cats." she laughed, "Come on now get back in the house."
She shooed them in and then followed. Taking off her shoes and setting them by the door.
"Make yourself comfortable" she called to Marx, "I'll go get some of the supplies from the garage."

As Jodi headed off for the garage another cat ran past her legs.
"Watch where you're going Pan" Jodi cried at the cat opening the door and entering the garage.
Pan raced into the entryway and sat down staring at Marx and the other cat.

Pan just stared at him more, yawned and walked away.
Jodi found food and water dishes, extra cat food, an extra litter box, and extra litter. She also found an extra bed and toys. And she put lots of newspaper in the bed.
"Just in case the cat is feral and hasn't been litterbox trained." she said to herself.

All five cats were now in the room.
Jodi came back from the garage holding all her supplies.
"Got them!" she called.

"Umm...yeah" Jodi stammered, "I've sorta been homeschooled since I was 7 so I haven't really made friends with anyone except cats."
