uh...I know nothing of hungarian, just the dances, and thats music...if you could put some words here
I don't know any Hungarian dances. Although, from what I've seen, Hungarians have a strong tendency to be awesome dancers.
Szia (pronounced 'SEE a'= Hi
Én (the 'e' is somewhere between the 'a' in 'ate' and the 'ee' in 'see')= I
Szeretlek (SER et leck)= I love you. (this was the first full sentence I ever understood)
Hogy vagy? (the 'gy' is pronounced like the 'd' in 'dew'...it should have a slight long 'e' sound)= How are you? (informal)
Köszönöm (sz sounds like s; the ö is sort of like the German ö, but a bit longer)= thank you

(i was talking about brahms - this is my favorite though the most famous is the 5hthttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1bDja...)
Are you asking where I learned Hungarian, and why I love it? If so, I am in the process of teaching myself it using websites and whatnot. It's tricky, especially since there are such limited resources for it in comparison with other languages, but it's so much fun. I love it because it sounds and looks so beautiful. I first fell in love with it when I realized how awesome Hungarian musical theatre can be. I also like the fact that it is one of the more unique languages.
If that isn't what you were asking, sorry for going on about something you didn't ask about. ;D

No, that was it! Nice job! I guess you recognized "hol" and "miert"? :) A nagynenim egy magyar operettzenekarban jatszik (my aunt plays in a musical theater orchestra), so I know all about that. A lot of people have told me that when I speak Hungarian it sounds soothing or happy or something. It's interesting. Have you seen these? They are so cool!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPJdAr...
just search for "magyar nepmesek" (hungarian folk tales)
let me know how i can help you in your endeavors!
oops - typo. Örülök, hogy tetszett.I changed my keyboard to Hungarian, and y and z are reversed - hate that!
Szia Lora!
I just started learning Hungarian. I heard it was the hardest language in the world. The harder the better! XD
@ Saira: I think you won't be disappointed with Hungarian, if you really looking for a "hard" language to learn. Though I would not call it the hardest language there is. Of course it depends on what language-background you have. But I as a speaker of an indoeuropean language would probably find it a lot more difficult to learn for example a tonal language, that maybe even has a whole new writing system. Hungarian is certainly quite challenging to learn, but it is definitely better then is reputation ;-)
Not once have I heard a native of another language say that their language is the hardest in the world. Only a Hungarian has ever said that to me. We'll see. :) I gotta go download my podcasts to learn pronunciation...
Well - certainly it might be one of the most tricky European laguages, but it it still doable ;-) And what I have observed among learners of Hungarians, it seems to be a matter of "love it or leave it". And it is always better to learn about something one likes a lot. That makes everything seem much easier.
