Paul's tower
Good luck Paul! Excellent goals and I'll be routing for you. You actually helped me set my goals for rewrites and editing--you are right, we do love to pile up the partially completed and baby ideas, don't we? I look forward to reading your stuff.Sweetman
I'm going to put a time goal on mine so that I can say 1,000 words of writing OR 30 minutes of editing...Anyway. Good luck, Paul! You're probably going to be logging 2 or 3K and leaving the rest of us in the dust. ha ha.
Good to know you're still planning to edit others' stuff. *wink, wink*You have very good goals here and I wish you the best. Just be sure to take time to eat and drink...oh, and bathe. Those around you will really appreciate that. :oP
lol. Cleaning is sometimes appriciated, but only when it is absolutly necessary and for no more then ten minutes at a time.
Hmmm, I think I had a bath last May or thereabouts.Scratches absentmindedly...
You don't think it's time for another one already, do you?
Thanks! I've just about finished the NaNo book at last, a bit of editing and I'll meial itto you sometime late this week (if you still want to read it that is.)

I'm just correcting some errors in the earlier parts he said defensively. Like characters changing names half-way through.Anyway, I have the final scene to go. Should take a few hours at most. Then you can have it...

Hi Paul! Nice goals … Ooh I wish I had time to write 4 hours a day. haha :D good luck!
I always forget my minor character's last names... heh heh. Yeah, I'm with Brigid. I'd gladly skip school... but my parents might not like that..
Me too. If I even bother to give characters last names … or I give them last names and never mention them. lol!Totally, me too. Who needs school anyway? ;D
Yeah. Who cares about photosynthesis? there's writing to be done. ha ha. It's not too reliable a career path, though.
lol, ikr? ;D hmm yeah O_o It would be really awesome to be, like, a full-time author. But it would also be impossible. *sigh* I suppose I could also be a graphic designer or something, although I'm not sure how reliable that is either. hehe.
ikr. My dreams are to be a writer or a nature photographer or to film nature documentaries. All are almost impossible.
I quite like editing, but it is hard telling someone they've got things wrong - badly wrong - without hurting their feelings or being unneccesarily cruel.
I know what you mean. You never know how people are going to respond … Some people can take criticism, and that's great. But then some people get offended, which is annoying, especially if they asked for feedback. :PAnd then I'm always afraid I'll weird people out because I can absolutely love a story and still find a million things wrong with it. So I'll give this long lecture about all the things that are wrong and then just be like, "by the way, it was amazing! i loved it!" :D haha

"I find that real good storytellers (have good plot, capture my attention, lovely characters etc) often can be terrible lingivists (grammar, spelling, sentence structure etc) and the opposite. Perhaps that's the problem?
Yeah. Typically it's either good writing or good story, but it's rare to find someone who's good at both.

Haha nope, I never give them last names. Not even my main characters. Tee hee.
School is overrated.. except for the fact that it will eventually get us jobs. But other than that, overrated.
Good luck Paul! I think you'll do excellent in the New Year!

Yeah, I often fail to give my mc's names too … XD
indeed. i don't even think school will help me get a job though … since i just plan on being a starving writer/artist anyway. heh heh O_o

The really rare thing is someone with good writing, a good story and a high level of MODESTY. ;D
You are, Malin, it's true. How do you manage to be so extremely, massively modest when you're so talented, gifted, charming, charismatic, attractive and perfect? :)
Paul wrote: "You are, Malin, it's true. How do you manage to be so extremely, massively modest when you're so talented, gifted, charming, charismatic, attractive and perfect? :)"It takes a lot of practice and effort, naturally, but mostly I think it's just something you have to be born to be.
PS. You forgot intelligent. DS
Sorry, yes. '..and gifted with genius levels of intelligence that Einstein could only aspire to...'
How's that?

Much more accurate, I must modestly admit.
:D
Alright, I think I need to stop this because I'm getting worried people will think I am that arrogant.
um can we discuss the fact that its not even 2010 and you already have 46 posts in your cubi... what the h?
What can I say Lauren? I must be popular. Maybe it's the free pizza I'm giving to every visitor. Perhaps it's because I haven't excavated a new dungeon or installed Artie yet. The movers haven't arrived with the chains, bats and torture implements either. It's just a spartan tower room right now. Not even an oubliette outside the door, or traps on the stairs.
The move was all rather hurried, you see...
Anyway, writing today - 1,665 words - short story 'Beneath' featuring the dynamic duo from Yellowfang (Ménage à 20, Tales with a hook) - yes, Phelps and DD are back!I've done two hours editing off and on as well, so I think I can rest on my laurels for the rest of the day.
OK, I'll actually be resting on my butt, but the principle's the same.
Oh yes, help yourself. There's a warming oven in the corner there. Anchovies on the top shelf, olives on the middle and spicy ground beef and pepperoni on the bottom. I think there's some vegetarian stuff in the unopened boxes. Just pop the box in the oven and heat it up.You haven't seen a strange child, looks about three years old, wandering around, have you? He'd be the one with the tentacles sprouting from his head. Oh, and claws instead of fingernails.
No, no, don't worry. He's harmless. Well, mostly.

This year, starting on Jan 1st, I'll be writing at least 1000 words every day.
I regard this as a bare, pathetic minimum. My actual intent is to average four hours writing a day, which, if I only did new writing, would produce 1.4 million words in 2010.
Of course, this year I'm also including editing, rewrites, synopses, query letters and outlines. Anthing to do with writng my fiction.
I'm not including blogging, posts on Goodreads, reviews, critiques and edits of other writers' stuff. I'll still carry on doing those, but they're additional to my own writing.
Have a great year everyone, and don't hesitate to brag (or cry for help) :)
