Great book or disappointed it's not like the show? Come discuss.

I've read all 5 of the books and, with the exception of the newest one, didn't think they were all that bad. The newest one was a train wreck! Didn't make much sense and was just all over the place. But I'm ADDICTED to the show!!! Have been suffering serious withdrawal pains while it's been on holiday hiatus!

OMG me too! I love the show which is why I read the first book. I was disappointed it wasn't like the book. The Elena in the book is nothing like the TV version. I love the TV version and can't stand the book version. Damon is still the same sexy badass in the book/tv version which is a plus since he is my favorite character.

That's the truth!!! Elena's brother doesn't do much for me and Tyler Lockwood doesn't either. But Stefan, Damon, Matt, even Alaric......yum-o!!

O god! u know it! hes so sexyyyy! his eyes are so... brooding? i dont know. sounds like it fits, lol. Damon is ubelievably sexy too, though. I like the show better than the books... i think Nina dobrev does a good job plaing Elena... even though the book and tv elena are totally different

New episodes start back up on 3/25. I have it marked on my calendar and having been watching old episodes on my DVR since they went on vacation......AGAIN!

I read the first book having heard such great things, but was left severely underwhelmed - characters were all very one dimensional/shallow. As a result I was really surprised when I heard it got picked up for a TV series, knowing there were so many strong YA series out there. I've been recording the show, but have only watched a couple episodes. Meh... The kid from Lost is pretty, not so sure about the other one.
