Emmeviene | 3 comments I've read this a long time ago. Back when there was no twilight yet. Honestly, this is better than Twilight. Also read Vampire Lestat, Queen of the Damned and other Anne Rice books.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Jo, I've tried to get into it several times over the years & never could either, even before Sookie & Anita Blake books were out. While it's quite possible my mind was already rotted on other tripe, I don't think that's the problem. They style just doesn't appeal to me.

Imran | 1 comments I've tried reading this and other Anne Rice books but i have never been able to warm to any of her characters, they just annoy me.

Dean (cowboys86) | 122 comments Yeah, her books aren't exactly brimming with action. It always takes me a while to read one of her books. I like the earlier books in the series, not something I would read again though. I gave up on The Vampire Armand (6th in the series)... I'm gonna take the rest of them off my to-read list when I can be bothered.

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments For me this is a classic, I have read all of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles (don't own them all but have read them in the past), she has a real knack for this and these appeal more to me than the new YA vampire novels that appear to have swamped the market.
I was always dissappointed when I learnt that she would not be continuing with this genre and now writes religeous books about the bible and the journey of Christ. Her Mayfair Witches were good too.
