Teresa's (well insulated) treehouse
Hi Teresa. Nice to see you in this new group.Good goals - especially taking care of your old and tired stories. A bit like putting them out to pasture?
Great goals, Teresa! I especially like the one about taking care of your old and tired stories. I may consider stealing it as I have many, many stories that are started and have been for years now. *cringe*

Hi Paul!
Yes, do you think that could work? Can old stories be rejuvenated like that or is it like trying to finish an old letter to someone?
I hope you had a nice new year's celebration and that you're eager to get back to work! :)

I've been rewriting and editing and so on for days now. Oh, did you mean going back to the job? Weeelll :0I have tried with some of my old stuff to start it up again, but it doesn't usually work too well. I did manage to change one novella that sort of petered out, into a screenplay. The different format worked wonders for it.
Usually though, if the idea was any good to start with, I find it best to start from scratch. It turns out completely different than the original would have.
Thanks so much, Paul! Starting all over is a much more appealing idea than trying to resurrect anything old that just wouldn't work the first time round. Oh, and I definitely meant writing, rewriting and editing when I wrote that about going back to work. I admire you for keeping it up even though it's been weeks of sundays for a while now. I haven't been so diligent; only 720 words this year yet.

You have the best idea! Finishing old stories! Good Luck!
Thanks, Fyopiagdt! I'm kind of glad I'm typing that and not trying to pronounce it. What should it sound like?

Words today: 620, but I have all afternoon off too. Glorious! What a scary question, Wendy! My idea is to have fun myself, and maybe to learn how it's done, if I happen to write something good enough some day. In a perfect world I will learn how to make all my ideas fly and people I show my stories to will love them and be entertained but I'm not there yet. This is an excellent playground though!
This is an excellent playground though!"I agree. WHat better place to stretch your wings and learn to fly? Support, fun, education- all rolled into one.
Yes, I'm very glad I found this group! :)Words today: about 1400 but I have finished one old thing off, and that feels wonderful!
Hi Teresa,Yes, we just keep at it and it gets better. I find I learn something whenever I read or write.
Hej Malin! :)Thanks, I think I'm doing ok. I'm just a bit behind my own goals but as I have two days off, I expect to catch up.
I agree, Jeanne! I enjoy learning even those obscure facts that I will never have to use again. :)
Hi there, Fyo-pirate! How are you getting on? I'm quite sure you will meet your goals, Malin. I took the liberty of looking at some of the things you have written and I would give a lot to have your talent!
Thank you, Tink! When I have figured out how to stay warm without piles of blankets, I'll ask you to do something wonderful with this treehouse as well. I hope you've had a good start to the new year?
Teresa wrote: "I'm quite sure you will meet your goals, Malin. It doesn't do much when you got a writer's block either. Sorry for the rant, I got a bad day. Uhm, week. Month. Year.. :P
1195 words. That's a flash story! Is it all on the same story?

Brain-wrackingly.

I can understand about the writer's block and having a bad day (or week...), but I'm sure it will pass. What do you usually do to recharge when you run dry?
Yes, this week I've been a good girl and kept to one story only. I want to finish it soon because a friend has offered to read. It's too good an oportunity to miss as she's a good speller and I'm not. :)
Teresa wrote: "Malin wrote: Ah, but talent/hardwork means little when you can't attract a network to read what you produce. It doesn't do much when you got a writer's block either. Sorry for the rant, I got a bad..."One in English?
I... don't know. Rant and scream at people until it suddenly loosen and I can write again. :D
*POKE - keep writing!*
I'd like to find the language where spelling will come naturally! No, I'm still writing in Swedish. I am trying to work up the courage to write something that feels real in English, but I'll get there eventually. Thanks for the poke! I needed that!
I'm a spelling genius. Well, mostly. I think it's just either there, or not. The spelling gene. Hereditary. Alright, I don't know if I spelled that right. I'm much better in Swedish.
Then I'm having a gene transplant as soon as that is made possible. I think I'm doing ok, and then I get doubts, and then it's all gone and I can't even spell my own name. The only way now to get any flow is to just write and worry about things like spelling and syntax later.

I will try to finish off one old and tired story for every two new things I start writing. Last but not least I will write something in English (and finish it before the year is over too, hopefully)!
