My book of poetry,
The Doors of the Body
, retells a number of Greek, Sumerian, and Aztec myths, as well as fairy tales.
My first novel,
Alcestis
, is a retelling of a Greek myth about a Mycenaean queen who went to the underworld in her husband's place. I've just put up 2 ARCs for a giveaway (which is in the process of being approved by Goodreads), if any of you are interested in reading it before the official pub date (February 1). Check this giveaway link soon for more information.
My short story, Parvati and the Snake [http://www.les-bonnes-fees.com/Parvat...] was published in the September 2008 issue of 'Les Bonnes Fees'. As you might guess from the title it deals with animals, myth, and India.
My short story, "In a Tower High," was published in Realms of Fantasy magazine's April 2004 issue. I also have a collaboration with my husband, "Ship's Daughter," published in the anthology, Space Pirates, in August 2008. Both drew upon fairy tales for inspiration.
A friend of mine told me about your group - very excited to find it! I am feeling my way into Goodreads, but my story "Clotho" is in an anthology called Orbital Hearts. The Fates are the main characters. Thanks!
Thanks, LS - it looks like a great anthology!
There are some interesting recommendations in this thread - I didn't even see some of them until today.

Hey all! I've written several short Mythic pieces that have appeared in various places - please visit brittanywarman.com and click "creative writing" to see links to them all :). There's a kitsune story that was published by Jabberwocky, a Sleeping Beauty poem up at Cabinet des Fees, and more!
Odette, thanks for starting this thread. I'm enjoying working my way through the Endicott list -- my pick this year was M is For Magic - and thought I'd share my own novel, Evenfall. I hope you enjoy it.
So, I write non-fiction that speaks to the value of myth, folklore, etc. and how it influences our lives. I have a Goodreads giveaway going on right now:http://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sho...

A young adult fairy tale fantasy spinoff of the 14th century French fairy tale, Melusine...
Half Faerie, the first book in the Daughter of Light trilogy, is on sale for $0.99 thru September 1.
The Daughter of Light trilogy... Coming of Age and Coming into Power
As a half-faerie, Melia is an outcast in the enchanted world where she lives with her two sisters and full-blood faerie mother. Their father has been exiled to the mortal world for breaking his faerie troth. He's determined to return to the Realm of Faerie by harnessing the power of Umbra--an accumulation of psychic ash which dwells in the Void.
Melia becomes entangled in her father's obsession by way of their telepathic connection. Uncertain about her own nature--is she evil or has she been tainted by her father's contact with Umbra?--the half-faerie seeks aid from the Illustrator. The mysterious woman marks Melia's forehead with a strange emblem meant to draw the help of a green-eyed stranger from distant lands.
Before the young priest--an authority on Umbra--arrives, a tragic accident destroys what's left of the half-faerie's fractured family. Melia's mother is unforgiving. The punishment she metes out will leave her middle daughter torn between guilt and ecstasy, challenge the bonds between three sisters, and complicate Melia's relationship with the young priest.
In Half Faerie, the first exciting installment in the Daughter of Light trilogy, an intriguing world backdrops Heidi Garrett's fantastical tale of mythical creatures and heart-breaking family relationships.
Oh, this is a great thread! I don't know why it didn't show up for me until now. I'll definitely be checking out some of the titles named.I am also an author (in short fiction, I have a fairy tale retelling here: http://www.cabinetdesfees.com/2011/la... and a story about a color vampire in this anthology: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...).
I'm currently at work on a novel about a girl who must go on a quest to find her mother, a star in a Hindu constellation, in order to save her father. I'll keep you posted!
Alisa, as I am an South Asian American writer who writes about people like me, I am excited to read your piece!
My Over the Sea, To Me is a retelling of the Child ballad "Young Beichan" -- which is a ballad form of a wide-spread fairy tale. Also The Dragon's Cottage is based on some common elements from a number of Eastern European fairy tales.
Both are short stories.
I hadn't seen this thread before! I will have to bookmark it for my TBR pile. Thank you so much!I, too, am an author of mythic fiction, but my work is being reissued this year, so I'll post about it once it re-emerges.
Thanks so much for sharing!

My novel A Diabolical Bargain contains two classic tropes of legend and fairy tale: a deal with a devil, and the heart found outside the body.
Witch-Prince Ways is a short story revolving about folklore about the -- Good Folk. And people being "took."Though without using any of the folkloric terms.
Thanks for posting!
It's wonderful to see how many mythic fiction writers have mentioned their work here.

My Madeleine and the Mists uses such tropes as the enchanted forest, and dragons, and magical springs.
My The Wolf and the Ward is a novelette revolving about some old -- pre-Hollywood -- beliefs about werewolves.(It's also available in print, in the collection Magic And Secrets.)

Part of the point of starting this group was to support the mythic fiction genre, & what better way to do that than to give authors a place to promote their work to an audience of readers who are inclined to be interested in it.
