I look forward to my days off so I can spend time in the bookstores. The used bookstore especially with its constantly changing inventory. So, of course I went today. I found what I think were two excellent books for cheap
and
. I believe they were both released within the last month, and appear unread. So, I didn't mind paying $3.00 each. I also found quite a few others that I've had on my wishlist, and I've added them to the "bought in 1/10" shelf.
I ordered this one last month and finally arrived today:Beyond Heaving Bosoms The Smart Bitches' Guide to Romance Novels

Oh Michelle, that books sounds like a hoot!
I ordered Kitty's House of Horrors from Bookdepository.com but I'm not counting it as a purchase until it arrives.

Yeah, I thought so too. I haven't started it yet, but its recommened reading for a book discussion that I've decided to participate in. There's been a few complaints about the authours language, so I'm curious to see what that's all about. I only paid 14 cents + s/h. Its in excellent condition so I'm really excited.
Well i went to my fav bookstore today, Powells and ended up with 4 books for me:
,
&
and I also bought 2 new cookbooks for the hubby!:)

oh that's great to hear Valorie, one of my other GR friends recommended them too and I found them used for $2.50 and $3.50 so figured I better snatch them up!:)
One for me-could not resist Nora Roberts "Duets". But I still have so many others to read. My goal is to get the piles of books I have read!.
Suz, I have the Rhyannon Byrd books. Let me know when you are going to read them and I'll read them with you.
I purchased today from three local used bookstores the following....

Ooooooh, Looloo, you're going to like Rosemary and Rue. One of my favorite debut works. I can't wait to read the next in the series.

Looloo, I'm here to make you feel better, again. I went to work this afternoon and came home this evening with 29 various works of used juvenile fiction we withdrew from the library's collection. And to think, I actually thought I might bring home very few books this month. Yeah, right. Sheesh. A leopard definately cannot change its spots, huh? :-)

Most of those I got on clearance at akadot.com and most of the rest I got out of the clearance bins at Borders. And if magazines count I got Shonen Jump (which contains about a chapter and a half of 6 manga, so 6 issues make 6 books, about/maybe) and Yen Plus (which contains chapters from 10 different series). I collect both of those too, and I used to do Shojo Beat but it stopped serialization last summer (boohoo). Um, yeah, I think thats everything so far...
Shimmerpop wrote: "...that was much longer than I meant it to be..."LOL! I don't think you need to be concerned with the lengths of your posts here. When listing purchases, talking about books and book sales, and your collection (s), the longer the better!!!
Shannon wrote: "I do not know if I am going to be able to keep my resolution. I am going to the outlets. They have a book store there. Agh! Maybe there won't be any good deals. Yeah, that's it." Wishful thinking Shannon!:) Good luck with that! Let us know how it goes ;)
Susan (Suz) wrote: "Valorie would be interested in hearing what you think of the Jacquelyn Frank series!! "I really like her other two series so hopefully this new one will be just as good. I'll let you know when I read it.
I found the following at my local library book sale today...
Then bought from the used book store...

Valerie, nice deals! But you're gonna have to do better than that to catch this bibliomaniac. ;-)
I just brought home 15 more used books from the library and got 4 delivered from Bookdepository. That brings me up to 49 for the month, so far. :-)

all from the used bookstore. Plus, I bought about 30 off of ebay yesterday and I'm just waiting for them to arrive. That's the end of my Christmas money designated specifically for buying books. However, it's only the 10th and there's too many new releases coming out later this month for me to stop now, lol!
I was just looking at our "bought in 1/10" shelf and relaized that as a group, our current total is already more than 1/2 of the Dec. total; and that's just counting the purchases that were added to Jan '10 shelf alone. I don't know, it just made my day for some reason :OP
So far in January 2010 I've purchased:We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver
Haunted by Chuck Palahnuik
The Hot Zone: A Terrifying True Story by Richard Preston
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
Stories 1 by Ray Bradbury
Dubliners by James Joyce
The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection From the Living Dead by Max Brooks
World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks
Blindness by Jose Saramago
The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories by H.P. Lovecraft
Infected by Scott Sigler
Only crossed off about 4% of my list :(
Got another delivery from Bookdepo: North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley
Brings me up to 52 for January.
