As I'm sure everyone is dying for this list (and I just like to make lists), I've compiled my list of my favorite books I've read in 2009. These do not have to be books that were actually published in 2009, just books that I read last year.

So without further ado, here they are (in no particular order)!

1. CLICKERS by J.F. Gonzalez and Mark Williams
2. CITY OF THE DEAD by Brian Keene
3. DEAD SEA by Brian Keene
4. BEWARE by Richard Laymon
5. CASTAWAYS by Brian Keene
6. URBAN GOTHIC by Brian Keene
7. THE GOD PROJECT by John Saul
8. LIVE GIRLS by Ray Garton
9. SOMETHING OUT THERE by Ronald Kelly
10. HIS FATHER'S SON by Bentley Little

So there you have it, although I think I put too many Brian Keene books on the list! Oh, well.

Anyone have any thoughts on these fine pieces of literature? Anyone else have their "best of" lists for 2009 that they'd like to share?

Philip I will admit that I'm not a much of a Keene fan. I think his early stuff was good and his newer stuff is crap. I have to say, the limited edition of Urban Gothic is probably the nicest book in my collection. It is a thing of beauty.

Some of my favorite books in 2009 would be:

1. Fragment by Warren Fahy
2. The Road by Cormack McCarthy
3. Demon Theory by Stephen Graham Jones
4. The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan
5. Let The Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist
6. Dark Places by Gillian Flynn
7. Crossed by Warren Ellis & Jacen Burrows (9-issue comic)
8. Radiant Dawn by Cody Goodfellow
9. Heartsick by Chelsea Cain
10. Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace

Amy (bibliocrates) | 25 comments Bloodman, I first read The God Project when I was 16, re-read it a couple years ago expecting it to be out dated and was surprised to find that it didn't seem to be at all. I've always liked John Saul. I like Brian Keene too.

Bibliocrates, I'm not sure why I liked The God Project so much, but I just did. I usually like all of John Saul's books, even though most of them are pretty much the same thing, but for some reason this one really stood out! I'm glad you enjoyed it as well!

And since you like Brian Keene, did you read Urban Gothic yet? A lot of people seem to be hard on that book, but I found it quite enjoyable!

Philip Lots of good choices there, Maicie.

Maicie For those of you who liked The God Project,
I remember enjoying In his image: The cloning of a man by David M. Rorvik. If you do a Google or Wikipedia search of the title you will find all sorts of interesting info about the book. I read it at least 3 decades ago so I don't remember any details.

Amy (bibliocrates) | 25 comments Bloodman, I haven't read Urban Gothic yet, don't have a copy, but I've read his zombie books and the one with the worms.

Amy (bibliocrates) | 25 comments Macie, I just got 2012. I was surprised to find that the ratings are so scattered. Makes me even more eager to read it...
