Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments Well, Peeps by Scott Westerfeild is about vampires, and it has romance, but it is so much better.

I love that book.

Remember how much of a maniac I turned when trying to get you to read HIVE and Vampire Academy?
XD I make myself LOL sometimes..."

I'm like that too. When there is a book that is good, I have to make others read it. I read HIVE and Vampire Academy too, (poor dimitri) and I loved them! I think the reformed vampire support group is great too. ANd evil genius, by the same author. The vampire support group is written like it was made to contradict everything in twilight. It's great!

Nightshade | 1257 comments Cirque du Freak FTW! ;D I started the series in November-ish and...

1) YAY! Awesome series!
2) YAY! Vampires that DON'T SPARKLE!

Instead, they're extremely limited around sunlight, but don't die immediately when directly exposed. It's like... usually they can take no more than an hour or two, but it's extremely uncomfortable. If they're in the sun for more than a few hours, they burn up. Even if they're out for more than several minutes, they get all red.

I don't mind. As long as they don't sparkle... XD

Also, there's 12 in the whole series. It sounds kind of intimidating, but they're short books. If you're going to buy it, I recommend getting the edition with the first 3 books squished into one. If you borrow them from a library or something, you should probably get them in sets of 3 at a time: 1-3, then 4-6, then 7-9, then 10-12. They're all between maybe 150 and 250 pages, so they're not super long. :D Also, they just made a movie out it. The Vampire's Assistant... even though that's the title of the second one. The movie's a lot different than the book, though. (Waaayyyy different! But still good.)

Book one: A Living Nightmare
Book two: The Vampire's Assistant
Book three: Tunnels of Blood

Nightshade | 1257 comments Oh, almost forgot- it's not a super-heavy romance. I mean, there's some in the third (I think it's the third book..?) and a little later in the series, but it's not the main focus of the story, which I like a lot. :)
