January 2010: New Year's Day - Read a YA book that has the word "New" or "Midnight" in the title, a date in the title, OR a book from the "Resolution" shelf on GR.

**A date could include the name of a month, a day, a number date, or just a year.
**For the Resolution Shelf click here.

Let me know if there are any other questions.

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) Would Book of a Thousand Days or Princess of the Midnight Ball (time?) count?
This ones pretty tough :)
Thanks for putting it together Linda Grace!

message 3: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Klaassen (librarymom23) I think I will try and read A Thousand Splendid Suns from the Resolution Shelf.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Kellee, I think days will work as a date word and I think midnight is fine also since New Year's Eve is celebrated at midnight. I will add that to the task! :)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) YAY! Thanks Linda Grace!

Kellee, I'm reading The Thirteenth Tale now too! :) What did you think of it?

message 13: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 342 comments If The Thirteenth Tale counts, would The 13th Hour: A Thriller? The date option seems to have a loose definition, so I was hoping maybe it would count. I just decided I might try the challenges this year.

I really liked it. It was kind of slow at first, but then when it all starts to come together and there is mystery, you can't put it down.

message 15: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 342 comments Ah, Linda Grace, I see that The Thirteenth Tale is on the Resolution Shelf. Sorry, I should have checked on that. Maybe I can come up with something else if The 13th Hour doesn't count.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

Kathy, I think the 13th is a date and would count. It's fine with me.

That's good. I am only 50 pages in and it was going kinda slow. Maybe I will pick it up again now that I am finished with The Forest of Hands and Teeth.

You are too kind, Linda. Thanks. If I don't find another one that fits better, I will count it this time. I love that you are more concerned about making the challenges fun than being a stickler about requirements.

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

:) I'm glad you are having fun! I enjoy doing these little challenges too. I have a hard time finishing the main YA Challenge and feel accomplished to be able to come on here and do a monthly challenge. I hope everyone else enjoys them as well.

Don't give up on it. Once Vida Winter starts telling her story, you won't be able to put it down.

I think its funny. Because I chugged right through Thirteenth Tale and you had trouble. While you chugged right through Forest of Hands and Teeth and I'm having some trouble. :) It isn't grabbing my attention like I want it to....

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah. I don't know why I went through that one so fast. I think it was because I kept wanting something specific to happen, so I was reading and reading to get to that part that never came... oh well. I am definitely going to finish The Thirteenth Tale, hopefully by the end of this week.

Enjoy!
Once I sat down and forced my self to get into Forest, the same thing came over me. I kept wanting answers so I kept reading. I didn't get any.... but I kept reading :)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) I read two books during January that qualify but I never posted them! Is it too late to get full credit? (It does show that they were read in January on my books read list, and they were also used for the YA Challenge and posted in Jan.) If not, 1 point each is better than none! :-)

Amelia (pwnedkitten) | 198 comments Oh good gods is it campy. If you look at my review, I think I said something like "it was an homage to Buffy the Vampire Slayer." If you liked that show, you'll enjoy this bit of fluff.
