Randi and I plan to literarily visit every state of the Union this year - reading at least one book set in each state. She's going the "frequent flyer" route (no particular order); I'm going to "drive" cross-country in geographical order, starting at home in Texas, heading west, and then working my way back (flying off to Alaska and Hawaii whenever the spirit moves me). Anyone want to come along?

Hi! It sound really interesting. Origially from Canada I still have a lot to explore about american writers.I'm currently reading Dead Until Dark from Charlaine Harris. The story takes place in New Orleans.Great Place to start my trip across the United States
Do I Have to do a list?
No, I haven't set a specific reading list or even genre, just something identifiably set in each of the states. I'm compiling lists of about ten possibilities per state for my own and Randi's use; will be happy to share those if anyone needs ideas. If you know of a great book for a certain state, please post!
Rebekah I love this idea! There is too much on my plate in 2010 but I might try in earnest next year. I'll keep track of the states I hit anyway.
OK, I'm off! Read a quick Texas book last night to get started (The Legend of the Bluebonnet by Tomie de Paola); will start Holes (also Texas) today.
Rebekah, if you have trouble finding pa books try the Key Trilogy by Nora Roberts or I am Regina. Happy reading.
I finished the first book.I'm ready to leave New Orleans."Dead until Dark By Charlaine Harris"I have no Clue where I will go next.I have to go back on my 12 books Challenge or see what I have plan to read in between.
Oops, got busy reading and failed to check in here. I haven't gone very far across country yet - keep getting sidetracked and reading other stuff. But so far, I've traveled Texas with Holes by Louis Sachar and New Mexico with Child of a Rainless Year by Jane Lindskold. Off to Arizona...
I also got busy it didn'nt stop me reading but fail to check in.I just finish The Last Song by Nicholas Spark. The story takes place in North Carolina.
I will be out of United for the rest Of the week.I'm currently reading Alice's Adventures In Wonderland. Interesting visiting UK underground.
I will be back next week. I have planned reading the Help. The story take place somewhere in the south of united states.
Talk to you soon

Happy travels! Talk to you when you get back.
I hope I am not to late to start my journey? I will have to do the freguent flyer route, especially since I am doing the seasonal challenge. Although I would like to eventually try to do cross-country.I do have a question, what if a book travels between states, do we count all of those states or one state per book?

For example: I spent a couple of hours in the Boston airport on a layover once, but I don't count Boston as a place I've visited...but I do count Brookings, South Dakota where my dad was born, where I spent a few hours seeing the house he lived in, the university where his grandparents met, etc.
My journey has started. I read these books over the weekend, so will use them as a jumping off place. ALASKA - Northern Lights by Nora Roberts
PENNSYLVANIA - The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
