Kiana (lokiana) Well, I searched for uncommon baby names on Google!
It worked!!!
Of course now I'm stuck between 4 names and don't know which one to choose!!

message 2: by Samiha (new)

Samiha Usually I try to think of names I like, and I use name-websites, and name-books, and sometimes I ask my friends what kind of names they like.
What's everyone's favorite girls' name and favorite boys' name?? I'm not sure about the girls' one but I'm pretty sure my favorite guys' name is Nicholas. :)

Kiana (lokiana) I put the names I have chosen in the polls...
A little help please?!
And that site you have given us Tay is good! Thanks!

Sorry, but where are the polls??? :S

message 5: by Samiha (new)

Samiha Lol never mind, I found them. :P And I created a poll so if anyone could take a look at that, it'd be appreciated.... :)

I'm using the name Ava as the name of the main character in my new story.

Actually, i need a bit of help....... I'm kinda stuck with the name for the male lead. It's either Julian or Julius. Which is better, do you guys think?
So far i'm going with Julius but i just don't know :S

message 7: by Samiha (new)

Samiha I think I like Julius. :)

Rachel (The Rest Is Still Unwritten) (rachybee) | 56 comments Tay wrote: "Idk... Sorry... Personally (please don't take this offensively) I'm not a fan of them. But, then again, it really depends on the character. "

Oh that's fine, i'm not offended. Everyone has there own opinion.
Like Sam, i prefer Julius, but i'm just not sure.....

U.L. Harper (ulharper) I'm with Tay. I don't think I like the vision Julian or Julius leaves me with. They're not strong male names, I don't think. I picture brown hair, thin, speaks multiple languages. This would have to be sex symbol, which I guess isn't a problem. It's just that I'm not a fan of sex symbols.

Rachel (The Rest Is Still Unwritten) (rachybee) | 56 comments Tay wrote: "Julian leaves me with kinda a scranwy kid, like U.L. said. Julius makes me think of Ceaser."

Well my character isn't really scrawny lol

message 11: by U.L. (new)

U.L. Harper (ulharper) To tell you the truth, I think the name of a character is overrated. What I find is that the name of the character, as long as the name isn't too silly, begins to become the elements around them. For instance, let's take the name James. If James is mentally challenged then James becomes a mentally challenged name. If James is a strong football player than it becomes a strong football player name. If the name tracy is in referance to a young hunky male, then as the story moves on Tracy will represent a young hunky male.

To tell you honestly. I use the first name that comes to mind. Langley, Bert, Saline, Dustin, Busek, Lenny, Yousef. Only one of them has a last name.

Kelsey I find the first name to very important to me when I write because it adds to my ability to actually "see" them

Same for me! I'll spend hours before I start writing trying to find a name for my character that actually matches it. It's exasperating sometimes but I usually end up with a well-matching name. :)

That's kinda the same things for me. I want the name to match the character

message 15: by Ayunda (new)

Ayunda (ayundabs) the name of my character is Miki. Do you think it's a good name? It's kinda very Japanese, but she's not japanese..

message 16: by Kelsey (new)

Me, too lol!

U.L. Harper (ulharper) A well developed character's name will simply come to you and it will fit. If it's not developed yet you may need to search. Whatever your process is will work, but you don't need to search. It will come every time without fail.

message 19: by Kiana (new)

Kiana (lokiana) Hey guys!
Visit the polls more often for god's sake!

message 20: by U.L. (new)

U.L. Harper (ulharper) what are the polls? I'm new to this a little still.

Up the top where it has all the links for the group, there's one for polls. You can answer any polls that group members have created and help give them advice =)
