Jim (jimmaclachlan) | 979 comments Roger Zelazny did not have a part in writing this book, save that Trent is his son. The Day the Leash Gave Way and Other Stories by Trent Zelazny is a collection of two dozen stories that came out in October 2009 in HB.

Jesse mentioned it in another topic & seemed to like it a lot. Has anyone else read it? Can we get a few more details - no spoilers - about it such as the genre of the stories, how it compares to his father's writing or anything else?

Jesse | 8 comments I tried to start a topic but am new to goodreads. Here's what I wrote:

I read this right around Christmas. My wife gave it to me as a pre-Christmas gift.

I loved it, but it is a mixed bag. 24 short stories (some one page long) but I would say I was overall thrilled. At times there are very clear influences (his father and Flannery O'Connor jump immediately to mind), but some of these stories date back over twelve years. He couldn't have been more than a child! And checking the publishing credits, 20 out of 24 were previously published. Where? Mostly, I dunno. I'd read a few in anthologies and online, but most were new to me.

I was just wondering who else had read this and what they thought.
