BurgendyA | 39 comments I'm just curious. What do you think attracts everyone to vampires? In other words why do we find them so sexxy? Could it be their:

-Beauty
-Fangs
-Never aging
-Demeanor
-Strength

Cary (vortigern) | 804 comments What attracts me to vampires. They are powerful, interesting, and mysteriouis. Their lives are cursed. Which is why I relate to them. They are outsiders. But they are powerful, and dont need to be accepted by the rest of humanity. Their sexyness depends on what vampire mythos you follow or believe. In one part of Dracula they have him cornered in one of his safe houses in London during the day. Dracula can move about during the day if it is necessary. Dr Seward said " the stench of rotten blood on his breath was appalling." Who the hell would think that was sexy. Yet Draculas many powers, and his ability to seduce, and control. Make him attractive but for his extreme evil nature. Carmilla on the other hand is not so evil. She gets much more of my sympathy. Plus she is hot in a sexual way. She is warm and not pale. She wakes at noon to continue her daylight existance. She is warm, intelligent, lovely, and covers her lover with hot kisses. Promising their lives will mingle into one together. I love Carmilla. Turn me baby! So that is what attracts me to Carmilla. Her eternal beauty, cleverness, her mysterous life, and ability to perform majic. Not all vampires are sexy. Just like regular people. But the ones that are rock!

Cary (vortigern) | 804 comments Oh and the ability to come out in the daytime. I just reread Dracula page 337. They have desrtroyed all Dracula's earth boxes except for one at Picaddilly house, and another they could not locate. They are waiting at Piccadilly house to ambush Dracula late in the afternoon. Mina has seen him around noon heading south towards London, and sends a message. Dracula cannot cross the river until slack tide. He suddendly comes through the door in broad daylight and Harker slashes him with his Kukri knife, and Dracula after a few words leaps through the window. Lands in the courtyard and runs to a barn door and disapears all in daylight. Carmilla can come out in the daylight, and all vampires in written stories until the time of the first vampire movie Nosferatu. Hollywood created the burn in the sun mythos for vampires. I really prefer the old sources much better when people used to read allot more.

Cary (vortigern) | 804 comments In the old stories the vampires always have permanently sharp canines. In Dracula they are very pronounced. So if he opens his mouth you know there is something odd about him. Carmilla although she is described as very beautiful has slightly enlarged and sharp canines. Not noticeable enough to attract much attention. But enough to betray her true nature. The only one who seems to notice is the little traveling hunchback jack O trades. Who sugests he can make Carmilla look better by filing her teeth which seem unusually sharp. This throws Carmilla into a rage. No one else ever seems to notice them in the story. Modern vampires who have like switch blade fangs are so lame. I guess they do the face transformation thing to make vampires attractive yet have a dangerous armament of huge teeth. Another Hollywood modern invention. Obviously the vampires bite is magical. The sharp canine teeth reveal the vampires true nature but are more the symbolic intruments by which it draws blood. A bite with fangs would cause a huge ragged gash on the throat. Yet the vampires bite appears the next day only as two small ragged holes or bruised areas. So one would conclude there is some magical force at work in the vampires bite. Tonight Sunday 17 on SPIKE TV at 10:00 Central time the movie, The Lost Boys is showing. One very cool vampire movie staring Kiefer Sutherland.

Paige (kindlelover) | 5 comments mysterious, powerful, that forbidden aspect that it's something you should be afraid of and also that confidence and arrogance that comes with being a predator

message 10: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) | 804 comments Human beings are predators. We just have a slaughter house do the killing. If your a person who goes hunting like I do. That predetory nature is there. It's in all of us just under the surface. In a vampire it would just be intensified. Humans being ominvorous dont have the same mind set as say a leopard. But even these animals are not arrogant. They know if they are hurt killing prey they are going to die. So they are very cautious. A vampire however with it's magic and superior strength would probably be arrogant. It could not be harmed by its prey. So vampires would develope what to us would be a sociopathic tendancy. But to them we are just food, and vehicles for pleasure.
