I recommend (though I'm still reading it) a new book by R. Douglas Fields called "The Other Brain," dealing with the role of white matter (Schwann cells, astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, microglia) in the brain and nervous system. Really fascinating so far, and he makes the case that these cells may play a critical role in everything from cognition and infection control to mental health

Mark, that sounds really interesting. I am fascinated with neurology anyway. I would be interested in what it has to say about mental disorders...
