Bartlett's is a great book to look through, as well as a reference work.

I love the quote feature on GR, too!I also like books that have quotes at the start of chapters. INKHEART is like that, and it's fun trying to figure out why those quotes fit those chapters. Also, the book I'm reading now (one of them anyway) has, not quotes, but "tips" at the start of each chapter - once I finish a chapter, even if I'm not reading the next at the moment, I can't help but read the tip. :D
Ann, I love quotes like those in books too. Many have made it to my favorite quotes, and the Goodreads database if they're not already there.
I love quotes, too! I even added a quote to the GR database. :)

Love the quote feature on GR too and also like it when books have quotes. I have a notebook where I add my favorites and now I can add them to my profile here too.In the show, CRIMINAL MINDS, they often start and end with a quote.
One of my favorite quotes is:
IF YOU HAVE INTEGRITY, NOTHING ELSE MATTERS
IF YOU DON'T HAVE INTEGRITY, NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.
Not sure who said this.

You can search for it in the quotes feature, too, I believe. :)

Oh yes. I added a couple hundred when the quote feature first started. And, I've added several since. Just check carefully to make sure your quotes aren't already there; there are tons of duplicates, and lots of work for the librarians.
From this page
http://www.goodreads.com/quotes
near the top right, there's an "add a quote" link.
ETA: search carefully first by quote words AND person. And, they have to be quotes by notable people or authors.
I quoted from a book that was recently published. I searched for it and failed to find it, so I added it. I will be sure to be more diligent if I do this again.
I love to look at GR members' quotes and find little known gems -- quotes that only 6 people have "liked."

Jeannette, Well you can search your friends' & general members' quotes, and search by tags, but start in the middle where there are fewer people with those quotes marked as liked.

Goodreads attributes the quote to an author named Alan Simpson. They don't have much info about him.

Ann wrote: "These quotes are so great!!!"I really enjoy them too. I love adding them and looking at ones other members have added. For awhile we could choose by order and choose which five appeared on our profile pages vnow it's random. I have so many I liked being able to pick my top five, though I sometimes made changes. Now sometimes ones I'm not as fond of are the ones that show. Still a lot of fun.
I admit, I'm such an easy sale for those quote plaques and stuff... don't let me in those stores!!! ;->

Are you into the inspirational types or the sappy sentimental ones? :)

Jeannette wrote: "Are you into the inspirational types or the sappy sentimental ones? :)"Haha - um, sadly a little of both!!
I saw at Hallmark (a little while back) all these plaques with quotes from Disney (either characters (Cinderella, Pooh, etc) or Walt himself) - it was all I could do to not buy them all! haha!
I have trained myself to stay out of Hallmark stores! lol

The mystery series I am reading starts each chapter with a quote. I just finished Hasty Death and will be checking out the GR quotes section to find some of the quotes from the book.
Another book I read that made good use of quotes at the Chapter breaks was The Wedding Planner's Daughter. She used a lot of quotes from children's classics.
