"Attended a Mock Caldecott workshop in Northeast MA. yesterday. The honor was "Princess Hyacinth" (illus. by Lane Smith) and winner was "Lion and the Mouse." Other "faves" were "Otis," "A Penguin Story" and "Duck! Rabbit!"

I conducted a series of Mock Caldecott Discussion groups with students in the Guilderland Central School District in Guilderland NY. I work in two different elementary schools, so therefore I had two Caldecott Committees for each grade level.Each grade 1-5 mock Caldecott Committee and each produced their own results. Here is a summation:
THE LION AND THE MOUSE ( 4 Medals and 2 Honors)
A PENGUIN STORY ( 2 Medals and 5 Honors)
REDWOODS ( 1 Medal and 3 Honors)
CHICKEN LITTLE (1 Medal and 1 Honor)
14 COWS FOR AMERICA ( 6 Honors)
DINOTRUX ( 2 Honors)
A CURIOUS COLLECTION OF CATS ( 2 Honors)MERMAID QUEEN ( 2 Honors)
