Danielle "The Book Huntress" wrote: "Derek was my first LK true love. And then came Simon and St. Vincent! :)"I can definitely understand how you feel Danielle. Derek is an amazing character. In fact, I would have to to put him right up there with Cam and Zach in my favorite LK heroes list. :D

I love Derek, too! He's definitely in my top 10 LK heroes. I preferred him when he lost his cockney accent though. Queen's English is so much sexier than the cockney accent. Why does saying "cockney" and thinking of Derek Craven make me all tingly and warm? LOL

I liked his roughness, but how devoted to Sara he was. I will refrain from Sighing, because I'm becoming hyperoxygenated from all the sighing I do on this group. :)

I have got to find this one. I've encountered Derek in several books and I really want to read his story.
I didn't love Derek. For me Alex and Lily are still my favorite. I also Love Gideon Shaw and Livia from Again the Magic. I wish they had a book.
I've been putting off reading these threads because I haven't yet gotten to this series. *sigh* Soon, soon.

This is tied with Suddenly You as my favorite Lisa Kleypas book. I absolutely adore Derek Craven and Sara.
Thanks Danielle!Christine... thanks for lmk! Suddenly You is on my tbr list, but I didn't realize that it was tied to Dreaming of You... I'll have to bump it up!
Whoa, wait. It's not tied to Dreaming of You. I was just saying it's one of my favorite LK books, as is Suddenly You. Sorry for the confusion. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't bump it up your 'to-read' list.

LOL, no problem, my bad, I misread your comment. Maybe it was wishful thinking, I'd love to read more about Craven!
I have "Suddenly You" on hold so I will be reading it soon, can't wait!

Reread DoY last night-since I can't start any challenge books until the clock strikes twelve. *tear* I still love it & I still find Derek & Sara amazing, but I must've blocked out the "mother's milk" scene towards the end. Ugh. Nasty.
Great idea to do rereads before midnight!! Earlier I was wondering...what do I do, what do I do??? I decided to read a short ebook. The mother's milk thing doesn't bother me. Different strokes for different folks.
When I get my Kindle, I do short ebooks while I'm waiting on the good stuff. God knows they have enough free ones to occupy me while I wait.Maybe I'll get into the "mother's milk" thing when I have children of my own. Right it, it's just like....ewwww. I don't think I'd let Caelen near my boobs when I'm still lactating.
God I love this book. I've been thinking of re-reading this one again because of how amazing it was. Don't think I can ever forget such a book!

you know ofc i respect that opinion. I however thought that Lisa`s point in that scene was to emphazie the depth and devotion a man has a for someone he loves(specially Derek). Julia was holding back because of her renewed image as a mother and found herself undesirable, and that scene IMO was meant to show her he loved her unedited it was more love than passion for me. but just to illustrate the pt idk.. ppl draw different conclusions xxx

Maybe you'll find that curiosity will win out! I can't actually remember whether we tried it or not.
I thought that last scene was HOT! and I wholeheartedly agree with Autumn's comment. Also with Bekah. :)
I finally got around to reading this one! I have 40 pages left. This book reminded me why I love LK so much. I'm going to start Cold Hearted Rake next.

***She stood at peril's threshold --
then love beckoned her in…
A prim, well-bred gentlewoman, Sara Fielding is a writer who puts pen to paper to create dreams. But now curiosity is luring her from the shelter of her country cottage into the dangerous world of Derek Craven -- handsome, tough, and tenacious -- and the most exciting man Sara has ever met.
Derek rose from poverty to become the wealthy lord of London's most exclusive gambling house. And now duty demands that he allow Sara Fielding to enter his perilous realm of ever-shifting fortunes -- with her impeccable manners and her infuriating innocence. But there is a hidden strength and sensuality to the lady that captivates him beyond his better judgment. And in this world, where danger lurks behind every shadow, even a proper “mouse” can be transformed into a breathtaking enchantress -- and a cynical gambler can be shaken to his core by the power of passion and the promise of love. ***
