Ok so I liked this idea. Tell me what you guys believe in (if you have a belief). I am a Christian. I go to a Private school and I go to church on sundays and wednesdays. I believe that Jesus was God's son and he came born to a virgin and died on the cross as a man. But then three days later he rose. I believe in living and active God. what do you believe? what are your arguments?

I think Christianity is a great religion. Being a Christian means I get to read the Bible and learn lots of useful things, pray to my God who hears and answers all my prayers. Prayer is a great thing, you can talk to him like he is sitting right next to you. He has given me so much and I thank Him everyday for that.
God is definitely my best friend (sorry guys). I can talk to him about anything and everything. He always listens to me. I don't know how I could live with out that relationship with him. He gives me hope and just the way I feel is just so indescribable that I can't even explain it. But I hope that you can feel the same joy that I do to.
I've been really trying to work on my prayer life. It's something I'm not great at..I got "A Young Woman's Call To Prayer" for Christmas, (by Elizabeth George) and I've been trying to get into that...and really just have conversations with God like he's my best friend. It's really really nice. :) (i finally posted Mariah!)

Mariah, you are so right. I am a Christian, too and I go to church on Sundays and sometimes on Wednesdays. I go to a charter school, called Valley Academy. I'm in eighth grade and I plan to witness to everyone I can throughout my life. Jesus is LORD and He loves me and you. Why can't anyone see that? I believe Christianity is the best religion out there.

Well there is definitely more to talk about when it comes to religions. So keep talking to me and I'll always be here to listen.
OK! well, my friend is lutheran...and she's gone through comunion?? i think? and she says because of that she's going to Heaven, and I never know what to say when she says I'm going to Heaven because I believe in GOD. I try, but she always changes the subject.
I know what you mean! a lot of people on my street are Cathalic and they know i am not. sometimes when i talk about my church they just try to change the subject.
AlixLew wrote: "ur welcome! u r really nice. :)"thank ya! same to you! sooooo if you are in 8th grade are you......14? well I am 12. hope age doesn't make a difference to you!
Yeah, and isnt it frustrating? I've known my friend for like our whole life, and she's not taking the path that i chose. i think that she used to be walking in the dark, but now i'm glad that she jumped to the middle path...half in the dark, half in the light. I feel she jumps back and forth between the rightous path and the "not so sure" path. I just want to hold her hand and let her follow me...or better than that, her to follow me by her own descision.

(and i tell my mom mostly everything.) :)
age doesnt make any difference to me. i have 5th grade friends and first grade friends...high school friends...I'm 13. But my birthday is coming soon...Feb. 1st
Yea, I think I know what you guys are talking about. Sort of? I have a lot of friends around me who are atheist and are proud to say so. When the topic of church and the lord come around, they just straightforwardly say that religion is a waste of their time and that church is just awkward. I have tried to bring one of those friend to church and her response was. "I don't really like that serious kind of atmosphere." I understand what she is talking about, but at the same time I don't. Agh! Its so frustrating!
I tell my mom everything too, but GOD i can tell Him my feelings, my fears, my accusations, my praise, and He will ALWAYS be listening to me, because He loves me that much! have you ever heard the song To Ever Live Without Me by Jody McBrear? It is so touching and says, "You(meaning GOD) would rather die, than to ever live without me."

It's a really good song, but it's kinda slow. It's my mom's favorite song, and it DOES have a lot of meaning
AlixLew wrote: "It's a really good song, but it's kinda slow. It's my mom's favorite song, and it DOES have a lot of meaning"i will look it up or something!
When you are talking to some of your friends about christianity, make sure that when you go into the conversation you don't start with an attitude of your wrong, and your going to Hell. But with an attitude of I'm listening, that way they won't feel like you are making them believe and that you and God would be upset with them if you don't but they think you are a true friend and will be willing to accept them for who they are.

Lutheran isn't it's own religion, they are christians too. they have some different views on baptism and communion, but just that you are baptized when a baby and you take communion like Jesus is really the bread and the wine.
I just started taking communion there, you have to complete a 3 year study (it's like youth group) to fully understand the Bible.
I don't want you to think that I am any different from you guys. I am Christian! but you know, maybe your neighbor's case is different?

I am Christain and i go to church every thursday with my school and try to go to chruch most sundays on my own!
I have religion class every morning, first period.my teacher's goal is to read the entire New Testement this year. We're almost done with the Gosples rite now.
After raising two children and spending near three decades on Wall Street, I can say that for me living faith and staying true to ideals is what matters. I wanted to share what that means and inspire others so I devoted a year to writing and publishing a memoir ("Cinderella of Wall Street") which tells a personal story from the front lines of Wall Street and what it was like within that world to maintain integrity while the financial crisis was brewing. My faith helped me through obstacles and challenges. So just wanted to share from experience that I like what I am hearing in this group.
Katzi wrote: "you wrote a book?? shweet!"Yes, I wrote a book (www.cinderellaofwallstreet.com). I also like reading Christoph Cardinal Schonborn's "My Jesus," which my eldest son gave me. The author starts each section of the book with a Gospel and discusses the practical application in our daily lives. I keep it close by in my nightstand.
Katzi wrote: "ohhhh cool! have you written any other books?"This is my first one. I was too busy raising my boys and building a career.....my plate was full. But, I took time out to write a book and immortalize a way of being as times are so quickly changing. When I have grandchildren who ask me what I did with my life and what is the meaning of life, I will give them my book.
Cailin wrote: "that is awesome! i would love to write a book someday!"It is a wonderful way to get a message out.....you can start a diary or keep notes that you may someday share with others.
I want to be an author someday, after you've written the frist draft of your book, what are the next stepes to getting it published?
Katzi wrote: "I want to be an author someday, after you've written the frist draft of your book, what are the next stepes to getting it published?"There are various ways to go about publishing a book. The traditional method is to find an editor to review and polish the manuscript, then to find a literary agent and then a traditional publisher. Some first time authors find the process long and difficult if one does not have the connections. Most traditional houses will not accept manuscripts outright.
Then there is the route of self-publishing, sometimes referred to as independent or indie publishing (kind of like indie films) which has been gaining momentum with new technologies like the POD (print on demand) technology etc. In that area there are a number of intermediaries that can help with editing, cover design etc. (for example Amazon's Booksurge, Lulu etc.)
I chose to go the old-fashioned route true to the back-to-basics type feeling of "Cinderella of Wall Street." I established my own media/publishing company and found a small printing press (they were wonderful to work with to design the cover and layout etc.). As far as the content of the book, my eldest son who is in the film industry helped with the content and editing plus I have an undergraduate degree in English Lit from Notre Dame, an MBA from Kellogg and three decades in the financial world...so we put it all together to create "Cinderella of Wall Street." Oh, and my sister did the sketches that precede each chapter. You can google to view the end product (www.cinderellaofwallstreet). The book can also be found on Goodreads. Hope this helps.

soo cool! I Want to be an author too. I am always starting new stories but don't have any idea how to make them long! any advice?
I know! Depending on what genre your story is about, concentrate on detail. It makes your readers actually feel like they're in the story, it's also a good way to take up some space.

That's a good question.....I ended up with 388 pages thinking at first that my story would only go around 200 pages. Once one gets into writing, like any other creation it takes a hold of you, especially if one feels moved to write. Experience of life helps as one has so much more to write about if writing an autobiography. My son told me to think cinematically as I was writing "Cinderella of Wall Street"....I wrote three drafts with a lot of polishing. You need to get the story out first. Then one goes back and fills and polishes and embellishes. For example, when I wrote about my childhood, I went back in time and put myself into those moments of what it was like to experience the world, like swinging on a swing....then you go sensory describing what it was like seeing, hearing, feeling the beautiful world around you etc.....
