Here we can discuss any Author - just make a new topic and start discussing :) Also Authors can promote themselves here!

Michelle Frost (michellefrost) Hi

Thanks for the space to self promote. :)

First Light by Michelle Frost

My book, First Light, is a mystery with a Sci-Fi/Fantasy setting. My readers keep disagreeing with category it fits in. The latest proposal was "Spiritual Fantasy". I'm beginning to realise labels can confuse as much as explain.

My book is on goodreads here: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/61...

There are reviews at both Amazon.uk and Amazon.com

Or, if you want something more fun, my YouTube advert for the book is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIysIO...

regards to all
Michelle

Hey everyone,

Shameless self promotion, I like it :)

My book - My heart, his soul - is a YA fictional romance and I'm looking for people to review it. It's my first book and so far there's only been good reviews. People who are really into romance and YA novels seem to like it a lot, too.
I've got it published on Amazon.com in Kindle format and if you would like to know more about it you can visit my website, too - www.lorainelovestowrite.webs.com

If you would like to review my book I can send you a copy in pdf format. Just send me an email or message and I'll get back to you asap.

Jan Hurst-Nicholson (janhurst-nicholson) | 60 comments Hi,
I've just listed Leon Chameleon PI and the case of the kidnapped mouse as a GIVEAWAY.
http://bit.ly/eBNIPj It is a humorous, animal detective story for 7-12 year-olds.

"When Mr Woodland Mouse mysteriously disappears, Constable Mole is quick to enlist the help of Leon Chameleon, Private Investigator, whose expertise enabled the Pigeon Valley Police to solve the case of the missing canary eggs.
After organising a search, Leon realises that there is only one creature in the valley who can spring the captured mouse from his prison. But just when he thinks Mr Woodland Mouse is safely on his way home, the plan goes horribly wrong..."

All the animal details of food, habits, and lifestyle are true to nature (apart from Constable Mole’s sunglasses!) and the animals solve the crimes using their own natural abilities. Children will absorb much knowledge of the small creatures of Africa without being aware of it.

A section of interesting facts has been added to this second detective story in the Leon Chameleon PI series. It provides valuable and little-known information on chameleons, moles and other creatures featured in the story.
The Kindle edition is now available on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004LRPRFQ
Barnes and Noble. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/book...

Jan Hurst-Nicholson (janhurst-nicholson) | 60 comments Just got a lovely review for my YA novel Mystery at Ocean Driveon Indie Day in the Sun.
http://indiedayinthesun.blogspot.com/...
Mis_T's review: "This is a great mystery book for young boys! Although I'm a grown woman and I enjoyed it to lol. It's a short, fast paced book that will keep you guessing right the way through. the action starts up right away and doesn't give to the very end. The lead character is a great role model for young boys, he's clever and persistent and also has a pair of great friends willing to help him whenever he needs it.
I found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable, well written read. It has a very interesting story that I'll be saving for my son when he's older... and my daughters!"
She gave it 4 stars on her site. I asked her to also rate it using my scale for Indie Day in the Sun as well.
On a scale of 1-5 she rated the book as follows:
Originality of Concept 5
Quality of Writing 4
World Building 4
Character Development 4
Likely to recommend to another reader 5

Thanks for the opertunity to promote. AS you will see the book is based in South Africa.
A fascinating, sometimes disturbing, insight into the lives of ordinary South Africans in 1955 as the country launches itself into full blown destructive Apartheid. Told through the eyes of a twelve year old boy surviving a dysfunctional family, this gritty story of cruelty, duplicity, love - and ultimately murder - is told with insight, compassion and humour. It is a great read. Amazon Books; Paperback and Kindle.

Hello, I've had a number of children's books published but have just published my first adult novel on Kindle set partily in England and partly in South Africa. Some encouraging reviews so far:

When Natalie Porter starts investigating plant theft in a suburban cul-de-sac, she never dreams it will lead her on a terrifying journey from the gardens of England to the townships of Apartheid South Africa; and a far darker secret than the whereabouts of a missing azalea.

"A romantic thriller doused in political intrigue, racial tension, international terrorism and … gardening. If you like your romances quirky and your thrillers intelligent, then you won’t be able to put down The Peace Garden until the last breathtaking page."

"This is a great story, with a compulsively page-turning conclusion, which also gives the reader an inside look at many of the conflicting issues of racial prejudice in its most notorious institutional expression - apartheid South Africa." - Steve Pillinger, reviewer

"There’s much to enjoy in Fiona Veitch Smith’s debut adult novel, The Peace Garden, where the hopes and fears of modern South Africa disrupt the
neatly-ordered flowerbeds of suburban Newcastle." - RS Downie, NY Times best-selling author of Ruso novels.

The Peace Garden is available on e-book. Hope you enjoy it!

All the best
Fiona
