I read the Memory Keeper's Daughter, what did you think?

I thought The Memory Keeper's Daughter was beautifully written, but ultimately not my type of book. Too depressing - families falling apart etc...

I didn´t like it that much, to be honest... I couldn´t connect with the characters very well and also didn´t like the end, I thought it wasn´t much of an end, it felt as if the writer just stop telling us about them, but the story didn´t feel finished to me.

That's interesting because on the surface it looked like the kind of book I would really enjoy but I actually found it a bit of chore to finish. Like you, for some reason I didn't connect with the characters and therfore just didn't feel that invoved in the story. I thought it was OK but no more than that. I expected more.

yes, for me it was also like a chore!!, i had to force myself (a bit) to keep reading just because, as you said, I didn't feel involved in the story, that's why I only gave it 2 out of 5 stars.

'Interview with a Vampire' has been on my TR list for a long time. Anne Rice has alot of fans, I wanted to know what the fuss was about...

Deni, what did you think? (only 2 stars must mean you weren't exactly impressed!) Should I bother? The reviews on Goodreads seem to be divided between those who love the books and those who hate them!

Well, I can see why lots of people like it, but it just didn't work for me, mainly for the writing style, it was just too slow; the story was nice, but there were pages and pages of 'nothingness', even the dialogs were difficult to read as they weren't written as paragraphs!
But maybe I just found it difficult to read because English is not my mother tongue!, so I'd give it a go if I were you! ;o)

I have had a copy of Interview With the Vampire on my bookcase for ages, I have seen the film a couple of times but never read the book....one day I will!
