I think that I like the simpler ones, but not always. So I don;t know if I have a favourite kind of cover, and I try as hard as I can not to judge by the cover. Here are some covers that I really liked:

Out of the group you posted Heather I think this one:
stands out the most to me. It could be that it's the brightes of the bunch too. All of those are great covers!

Those are just some that I really like. I like the covers that are more realistic. Not ones that look like cartoons.
I like realistic covers as well Steph - but the ones that draw my eye the fastest are the ones with a little bit of a creep factor. If the book needs more than a glance to understand what the image is I usually end up liking it.

I was just reading about that one actually Julia. Wasn't the first cover a white girl and after pressure from the author the publishing company changed it. Good for the author pushing for what she wanted!

Good for the author pushing for what she wanted!Apparently it's a huge thing in the publishing industry. The industry doesn't want to put African Americans on the covers of books. They think white folks and other folks won't buy books with black folks on the covers. Even though this book is a first person narrative about an African American girl -- who is a an unreliable narrator. So the author thought it made it seem like she was also lying about being black. She was p^ssed, at the first cover and her publisher and she made it very public.
I think people would (and are), but the publishers are jerks.I've read and loved her Magic or Reason series, it makes me want to read all her books.
(Magic or Reason is the 3-in-1 with a boring cover from SFBC. I love that SFBC does this, but their covers are so drab.)
