Here's a teaser for Ice Cold (as listed in the Goodreads description for the book):
In this edge-of-your-seat thriller from New York Times bestselling author Tess Gerritsen, a mysteriously isolated town stands abandoned as a silent watcher waits.
In Wyoming for a medical conference, Boston medical examiner Maura Isles joins a former college classmate, his daughter, and their friends on spur-of-the-moment ski trip. But when their SVU stalls on a snow-choked mountain road, they're stranded with no help in sight. The group seeks refuge in the village of Kingdom Come, where twelve eerily identical houses stand dark and abandoned. Meals site untouched on tables, cars are parked in garages, yet the town's residents have vanished into thin air ...

There is a Goodreads Giveaway for 50 copies of Ice Cold beginning on April 5th. I don't know much about this, but it might be worth entering. We should all enter so we can have our own copies for our group read! :-) Click on the book image below to read more information:

Okay :-) I just found another book that was in a give away and entered. Publishers and Authors give copies away of select books to get people interested. You just have to give your shipping address and the author/publisher has agreed not to use your address for any other reason than to ship the book if you win. Sounds like a great idea to me! I will probably create an event to remind everyone - you can only enter the drawing April 5th-26th 2010.

When you decide which title your gonna read next (or if you need help deciding) post in our Group Reads topic - maybe we can set up our first group read before the release of ICE COLD. Here's the link to the group reads discussion:

That is a great trailer!!! Very impressive :-) Maura Isles is one of the victims? Her nightmare has only just begun? I've heard this is a ghost story - I'm anxious to read the book :-)
Tomorrow morning the goodreads giveaway winners for Ice Cold will be announced. I hope someone in the group wins! If you do, please let us celebrate with you by letting us know :-)

I believe there were over 2,000 entries for 50 copies - not very good odds for our little group :-)
I'm guessing nobody from our group won the giveaway since no one has posted yet - dang it! And we tried so hard too, but when it's open to so many other readers the chances are pretty slim.......so......
I have exciting news! :-)
I'm currently working with Tess and her publisher to do a small giveaway for our group!!!! Stay tuned for more info to come in the near future.

Ok, so after the 50 copy giveaway, Random House was able to find 5 copies for our group - wish it was more, but I'm very appreciative :-) Tess does need some people to actually buy the book so she can get on the New York Times Bestseller list again :-)
I am claiming one of the copies for myself because I aint stupid! As for the other 4, I will be contacting some of you via goodreads message. I'm going to offer a giveaway to group members based on how long you have been a member, your participation, your responses to events etc. Please don't hate me if I don't message you about this giveaway (this is my effort to be fair), but if it's any consolation, the odds are still much better of winning a giveaway here than in the goodreads first reads giveaway :-) We have 20 group members. Tess of course doesn't need a copy, and 3 group members (that I know of) have already read advanced review copies of Ice Cold so I won't be offering a copy to those individuals. With me and my copy out of the equation that's 4 copies and 15 group members - Watch your inboxes for more info :-) I will announce the winners in a later post.

Well, I haven't heard back but I put a note that if they can't - to send it to me and I'd get it to you. I hope postage isn't outrageous :-) I'll keep you posted.

i got a FedX delivery to my door of Ice Cold! It won't hit the streets until July.
Thanks again to our wonderful Mod!
You're Welcome :-) I'm really glad this worked out - it helps to have the author in our group :-) I haven't gotten my copy yet, but I know Sheila got hers yesterday.
Got my copy today - since I didn't get Raila's copy I'm assuming they'll ship it to you :-) I'll probably start the book tonight because....why wait? This series is great - each book is so different. Very exciting!

I was planning on re-reading the whole series but with the unexpected surprise of getting an Advanced Readers Copy (ARC), I tried to speed things up but only made it to Vanish :-) I'm not gonna wait to re-read The Mephisto Club and The Keepsake - I'm ready to start ICE COLD and then I'll read those two right after :-)

Well, I'll keep The Sinner featured as a currently reading book since you're still reading it - just post in The Sinner thread when you finish :-)
Ice Cold is now featured on the group's Currently Reading shelf! If everyone updates their reading status you can click on "view" to see where everyone's at in their reading progress :-)

Thank you Dustin and Tess!!! I just finished Ice Cold and it was wonderful. I had read some of the books in this series but not all. That will change. Thank you.
I'm still reading and loving it! Tess did a great job with the Wyoming setting. I'm very familiar with Wyoming and it really is the last frontier in the continental US. I refer to it as "The Land that Time Forgot" (which is strikingly similar to a series of dinosaur movies that my kids like to watch). My wife and I met in Wyoming and drove through the state on our honeymoon - we stayed in a "rustic cabin" one night :-) We have family in Wyoming so we visit there and we have stopped at those gas stations where everything is out of date :-) For another Wyoming adventure I recommend the movie "Did You Hear About the Morgans?" which is now available on DVD.
I saw this fact mentioned in several goodreads reviews but thought I'd mention it here:
The back cover of the ARC copies pretty much summarizes the entire first half of the book. Major spoilers - I think the book would be more enjoyable, with more surprises and twists if the reader didn't read the back. Maybe the info on the final copies won't have all this information but just a heads up to anyone planning to read the book.

Several characters from other books are mentioned including Amalthea Lank (Maura's mother who we met in Body Double), Victor (Maura's Ex who we met in The Sinner), and Sansone (I believe he was introduced in The Mephisto Club).

We're not supposed to quote from an ARC, but here's one I couldn't resist - please note this is not quoted from a final copy but I think it's great:
"Then you don't recognize her picture?" Queenan asked, tapping on the official photo that Jane had printed off the Massachusetts Medical Examiner's website. It was an image of a somber professional. Maura gazed directly at the camera, her mouth neutral and unsmiling - appropriate for the line of work she was in. When one's job involved slicing open the dead, a broad grin would be unsettling.
-uncorrected copy of ICE COLD, chapter 15

Thanks for the heads up, I HATE that!
I haven't finished Ice Cold yet but I wanted to recommend the following book by Nevada Barr as it seems to strike a similar chord (at least in my mind):

"Then you don't recognize her picture?" Queenan..."
I won a free copy from Goodreads - which led me to this group. I found the above quote to be funny. Murder mysteries are not my normal reading genre, but this book has humor tied in one page after another. I won't give any spoilers - but I am half-way through the book and am hooked!
