Haven't heard of either the author or the book. But if it's something to do with Thailand, I'm quite interested in reading Sightseeing, a collection of short stories by Rattawut Lapcharoensap.
Oh, Sightseeing was defiantly a great book. I loved it. The stories in there are quit what I remember Thailand to be exactly alike. The story about the military had me crying.
Bangkok Tattoo... it is a mystery type novel. I started it. Since I own it and I've been getting library books it has been set aside until I get caught up with my stack of books.

Mmm I never heard of those two. Book that I know is set in Thailand is Platform by Michel Houellebecq (found it in the 1001 Books you must read before you die list).
I added that Platform to my list. I've spent time in Pattaya. I can't wait to see what it has to say.
Another book set in Thailand in The Beach by Alex Garland.

Oh I've seen the movie The Beach (Leonardo Di Caprio and Virginie Ledoyen) and it's an amazing story! Riveting, and the performance of the actors were great :)
Hey, I was wondering if Anyone knew of any good books that incorporate Buddhism in them somehow? or are about Buddhism or Buddha. I have already read Siddhartha
,and i reeeeaaallly enjoyed it!
Hi folks...I'm glad to have just joined the group...I myself am a writer who writes tales set in Bangkok. An ebook collection of my stories just came out:
Divine City: Bangkok Fantasies
You can also listen to podcast versions of a couple of the stories for free at ScottBRobinson.net. The story "Ati" in particular has a specific image of the Buddha at its core. It's one of my personal favorites.
Thanks for having the group.
Scott B. Robinson
The Quiet American. This also is one of my favorites set in Southeast Asia. Graham Greene...what a riveting writer!

Siddhartha was required reading in high school.
