So I have a question. There are lots of referances to the Urban Wars but as far as I can recollect I don't remember there being an actual defination of what there were and about in any depth. Has this actually been described and I missed it?(I'm about book 20 right now)

I don't think there's been anything explaining what it was. I assumed it meant some war that happened during our time, because I remember a mention of there being actual guns and not lasers. I don't know anything other than that.
I believe it twas explored with a little more depth in Origin in Death. That's because Summerset was relaying information to Eve about the time he spent there. I think it had to be more far-reaching than New York, though, as they give the impression that it was a long war where there were a lot of deaths and some bodies could not be identified.I think Summerset also actually states a vague figure of the number of casualties. Eve also visits some witnesses for the case she is working on, who tell their own stories of the war. In one conversation, they are talking about an ambulance driver. I'm not sure if that's in the same book, though. That one might be in Seduction in Death. I'm just not totally positive; just going from memory.
http://www.indeath.net/wikiindeath/in...The indeath.net is a a GREAT resource for this series. Their wiki is extensive and detailed. Just beware that there are spoilers there if you're not current on the books.
I've actually started to update characters listed per in-death book on good reads and update character profiles based on info from the indeath.net wiki and adding link to each character in the profile. Having the characters linked to each book here on good reads allows one to click on the character and see all books those characters appear in. Originally only Eve & Roarke were listed but I've been adding more secondary characters so the linking helps more than just seeing the series list.
So why am I feeling like Nora Roberts is either clairvoyant to extremely astute - because it sure feels like the Urban Wars that never was fully described is what we are seeing the beginnings of throughout major cities throughout the US right now. Does anyone else feel that way?
I hadn’t thought about that correlation but now that you mention it, Barbara, it’s remarkably close!
However, there’s also an air of inevitability about what’s happening given it’s oft repeated throughout our world history. Nora just recognized the signs.

Me too - even though there is never a ton of detail on what the Urban Wars were exactly it just "feels" like what is happening in our world today sure could be considered Urban Wars - like a pandemic is kind of a war as well as all the civil unrest and bands of criminals trying to take over an important message but really only just wanting to tear everything up and create chaos. Giving me a lot of anxiety.
I was just thinking the other day about this. The hints in the books about the timing of the Urban Wars seem to suggest that it is our time period, and the pandemic, the oppressive governments and the protests all over the world make it appear as if it is happening as we speak. It's horrifying.
I have read most all of the JD Robb books and for the past couple of years her prediction of the Urban Wars have haunted me. I have mentioned it to my friends and recently accelerated a move from the city to the mountains. The recent storming of the Capitol sure seems to be the start of Urban Wars, which will surely spread to other cities. I seem to recall that she did not give much detail but referenced the end of the wars resulted in the confiscation of all guns for use by the public, and only tasers used by the police. I don’t remember the specific book(s) with this information (and don’t have the paperbacks any more to go back and reference).
I agree a lot of things in the books seem to be coming about; but remember: the books are works of fiction.
Friction is only one step from reality. Years ago we saw in Star Trek people talking through the air now is reality. So the Urban was Canby and most likely will become reality at one point.
I have long thought that the Urban Wars could easily become reality. It certainly feels like the start of them! But I remain hopeful that we will somehow come out on the other side without having to go to war.
Yes,the Urban Wars were eerily predictive of what might happen. Even if it is fiction, all fiction is based on some reality. This is a very scary time, now with the assault on the Capitol, with possible attacks planned for all 50 Capitols this weekend. Now would a good time to have one of Eve's fancy cars so we can fly over the trouble.
I saw a news story this morning, GM has plans for a flying car that they'll start making in the next few years. I don't think I'm ready for that yet! I need my tires to touch the road!
It’s like Nora Roberts had some insight into the future. I hope she takes this topic up on her blog sometime soon.

Jonetta wrote: "It’s like Nora Roberts had some insight into the future. I hope she takes this topic up on her blog sometime soon."I know, right. The more that happens now it seems so much like we have read about it in Nora's books - the In Death series. At least with the Urban Wars it seems we can survive although things could be rough for awhile. I just want peace and neat tech advances - particularly would like an Auto Chef!

Especially after what happened in the nation's capital.
