Coden started at the knock on his cabin door. "Come in!" A grungy head poked in, "Cap'n says it's time to go ashore." "Thanks, James," he pulled his long black coat off the edge of his bed and draped it around his shoulders. He took a deep breath of the sea air and climbed over the side of the boat. With three other sailors, he pushed their little boat away from the ship towards the port of Brunswick.
Esmie walked next to a pretty girl with blonde hair and inhaled the beautiful smell of sea she had grown up with.
Coden groaned, "Girls... I am calm. I just asked to be polite." By then he had rowed up to the shore and he could hear the sand grating against the boat bottom. He jumped out and pulled the rest up onto the beach.
((So I'm guessing this is where Coden will find Anne, on this land?))Millicent stepped off, and brushed her coat off. She looked around the beach, "I don't think we've ever been here before.' she said.
((Yes!))"No, we haven't. I exploring new places, see you later." Coden tipped his hat to the three pirates he had rowed up with and stalked off.
The market was bustling with activity and Coden was having trouble with being on land again. He leaned up against a table that had beautiful knitted items on it to rest. He looked up to see who was in charge of the booth and met eyes with a young, pretty girl that looked strangely familiar. He gave her a dashing smile, "Hello. Er, how much are your scarves? I'm Coden."
He reached into his leather pouch that hung from his pants, without breaking eye contact. ((Yeah, he is a ladies man.)) "Here you go miss!" He scanned the scarves again and decided on a plain, thick, red one. "Do you make these? They are certainly beautiful."
"Thank you, I made some of them, but the lady I work for made most of them." Anne said, "I never asked you what your profession is, if you don't mind telling me."
"Me? I'm a- uhh, a carpenter." He justified lying by thinking to himself, I'm very good with wood. I have made many repairs on the boat.
"Oh that's neat. Well, it's nice to meet you Coden." Anne said, smiling, "Oh ... I didn't tell you my last name, silly me! It's Blatz, Anne Blatz. What's yours?"
Coden blinked and stepped forward with a shaky gasp. "Blatz? My last name is Blatz also. What a silly coincidence!" he grabbed the edge of the booth and stared at Anne with astonishment.
Anne laughed, "Yeah it is! I hardly ever met anyone else with the last name 'Blatz'. My Mother keep it when she separated from my Dad."
Coden snorted and kept staring at Anne. "Yes, yes. Quite unusual. Anne, how did you come to be here? Have you lived here all your life or did you just move here?"
"Well, when my Mom left my Dad I moved to around here with her, but then she died, and I had to be placed in an orphanage, because my father wouldn't be able to take care of me. I just recently got out of that orphanage ... horrible place, great friends." Anne explained.
((hi guys! it's me...well, i had computer taken away for a WEEK! could you tell me where ya'll are and how i could come in?? thanks!))
((the boat-temporarily forgot the name-is re-stalking on food and supplies at a small town right now. Coden and Anne are trying to figure out why they have the same last name. They are actually siblings who got separated when their parents divorced, if you didn't know. They are in a big marketplace, and Anne is selling all kinds of beautiful knitted stuff. Come and buy some!))
"Our father died. He definitely won't be able to take care of you. But, I can! Annie, selling knitted goods isn't going to keep you supported. Come with me."
((thanks, Ms. Descriptive! I love you!))Esmie walked up to a girl selling knitted stuff. I twas really cool, so she walked over to take a look and see if the prices were OK.
Anne looked confused at Coden, "I can't just leave with someone I just met." Then a girl walked up, "Hi, how do the scarfs look to you?"
Coden glanced at Esmie with an irritated glare. "Esmie, can't you see I'm talking? Anne, look. Your father and mother divorced, my father and mother divorced, your mother took you, my father took me, I have never seen my little sister since then and you have never seen your big brother since then. Until now. Don't you see? It all works out. And I remember my little sis had big, blue eyes that stuck out against her tan skin and light brown hair that she always kept back in to braids. Like now."((Can she have braids in at the moment? Like pretty, loose ones that just hand down her shoulders. And Rapunzel, should Coden and Esmie know each other pretty well? 'Cause I don't think he would have snapped at her if they didn't))
((Yeah, sure, the braids are a good idea!))Anne looked down at the floor, "I-I just don't know. Can I trust you? I just met you."
Coden rolled his eyes, "I'm a carpenter. And your brother!" his plan was to convince her to come with him and then tell her that he was the first mate on a pirate ship. He thought she would be safer with him and he liked her personality.
Coden gave Esmie a sharp look. "Uhh, you know how I told you once that my mother and father separated and I had vague memories of a little sister? Well, Anne and I have the same last name, she looks like my memories and she's coming home with me. A carpenter never has time to take care of his house, so yes!"
Coden looked at Esmie, "I think so too. Oh, I think you'll like it a lot! Would you like to go see it?"
((People wait for me alot ... I feel waited on! :D))Anne looked around at the booth, "Well ... I guess I could step away for a couple hours. It's been pretty slow for the entire day."
((HAHAAHA!))Coden grabbed her hand and pulled her gently away from the booth, hoping Esmie wouldn't follow. "This way."
Coden sighed with pleasure, hoping Esmie would notice. He always pretended to hate having her around even though he did think she was fun.
"So who's that girl, do you know her?" Anne asked."CODEN!" yelled Millicent, "What are you doing? We need to hurry back!"
((Uh-oh!! Is Millicent going to ruin it?))
((Nope, he was going to bring her directly to the Sliver Dragon anyway. He just didn't want to tell her right in the open market because some one might hear!))Coden laughed, "Unfortunately, yes. We are friends from work. Yes, a women carpenter pretty unusual, but she interesting like that." He jumped as his name was called. "Oh, Millicent! Has Jack gotten all the supplies?"
"No, of course not." Millicent said sarcastically, "C'mon, we have to get back. So leave this pretty little girl, and come!"Anne stared at Millicent for a second, "I'm just not a 'pretty little girl' I happen to have a name, it's Anne. And Coden I'm guessing this 'Jack' is your boss at the contruction site?"
"Contruction site?" Millicent asked.
"You know, the contruction site, where Coden works because he's a carpenter."
Millicent smirked as she glanced at Coden, "Yeah ... let's go to the contruction site Coden."
((YES, YES!!!! HA! Thank you, Emma. Anne is perfect!!!!!!!!))Coden grinned at Millicent and hoped Anne would take the news well. "Well, it just so happens that Jack is my boss. Just not the kind of boss you think," he looked around quickly, saw that the cost was clear and went on. "Jack is a sailor, particularly known for good looks, and his knack for getting away with slightly piratical things. He's a pirate. And I'm his first mate. I didn't want to tell you out in the marketplace, people could get a little-" he bit his tongue as he realized who he was with. "Angry. So, let's go show my little sis off!"
Anne stared blankly at Coden's face in shock."Pff, well that went just perfect" Millicent said sarcastically with a smirk.
Coden blushed at Anne's stare, "Well, I stopped myself! I didn't actually say it. Besides, I can't help it if I grew up on a pirate ship with a bunch of crazy scoundrels!" He then tightened his grip on her hand and walked towards the his rowboat.
