One of my FAVORITE themes! (And yet sadly, is practically impossible to find now a days!)Wet and Wild by Sandra Hill
Dreamquest by Janet Wellington
Hot and Heavy by Sandra Hill
The Immortal Highlander by Karen Marie Moning
Spell of the Highlander by Karen Marie Moning
Yesterday's Flame by Elizabeth Hallam
Tumbling Through Time by Gwyn Cready
Seducing Mr. Darcy by Gwyn Cready
Truly Madly Viking by Sandra Hill
Viking Heat by Sandra Hill
(I know that some of Moning's books aren't technically Time Travel, but the hero is immortal, so at the very least, it does has that feel.
Oooh! Seducing Mr. Darcy sounds good! He's in my top 5 fav heroes! How would you rate the book Jacqueline?
Ohh, mine too Black Pearl! I love that character like nobody's business, lol. The book, over all, is a 4 star, so it definitely wasn't a waste of time by any means! It is a bit of a weird book concept, though. Rather than a time-jump backwards, the leading lady literally is pulled into Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice. It sounds a bit weirder than it actually is, and Gwyn Cready does a marvelous job of pulling it off! Secondary characters are important in this book, and if I remember correctly, Cready switches between the POVs of the secondary and primary characters.
It really is a book that is unique unto itself :)!
I'm new to the book club and was just looking through all the discussions. Time traveling is one of my favorite topics and one of the first romance books I ever read was about time-traveling.If you haven't read them already, you guys NEED to read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. I do not like her newest books in the series but #'s 1 and 2 are really good
I know I'm probably one of the only ones, but I doubt I will ever read the Outlander series for the simple fact that the synopsis for a lot of them just sound a bit...spastic to me. No offense to those who enjoy them, of course! :) To each their own!
I can see the appeal. I guess what turned me off is that, if memory serves me correctly, when I read the synopsis for the first Outlander book, the heroine was from the second world war, and because I'm not a fan of that time period from a fictional entertainment standpoint, it's made it a bit difficult to explore these books as a potential TBR series.
She's from that time period but the books starts after WW2 and in the first book, you are only "in" that time period for about 100 pages. The synopsis probably should not have even put that in there because it is not a factor in the book. The first 100 pgs, her and her husband are in Scotland for their 2nd honeymoon and there are maybe 1 or 2 references to WW2
Ooohh. Okay, well, that's a lot better then. But that does jog my memory about another problem/issue I thought I'd have with this book/series. The fact that the heroine is married. Unless I'm mistaken, this series is a time-travel romance, right? Well...then...why is the heroine married? I realize I haven't read these books, or know enough to make a judgment, but I can't help but be confused over this issue. As a result, I can't get myself to muscle up enough interest to read it.
Again, just my take on things. Not trying to bash anyone who likes this series, or you personally Katie. :)
Jacqueline,Mr. Darcy is my ultimate hero and Pride & Prejudice is my favorite book...which is why I won't read Seducing Mr. Darcy. I want no one messing with my P&P no matter how well they write it! :-)
Yes I also had problems with that part too, but you realize in the 1st 100 pages that she was having issues within her marriage. The author never came out and said anything, but it left a bad taste in your mouth. When Claire (the main character) goes back in time, she meets this "strapping Scotsmen" who is on the run from the British. She can't find a way back and before she knows it, its been months since she first time-traveled. Circumstances demands that she marries Jamie (the scotsmen)and she eventually falls in love with him. I understand the issue with the marriage, I can never read those either, but my mom actually got me into the book and said it will all work out.
LOL Alrighty, then :). To each their own I always say. In my opinion, though, I think the best part of any fictional work occurs when an author takes a preexisting ideal (people, books, places, or even characters) and makes that ideal their own. It's a 50/50 shot whether or not it will work out well, but it's always fun in seeing where the story will take us.

Absolutely! It's just like I don't enjoy Into the Woods the musical because they mess with my favorite fairy tales. :)
Ha ha. I won't watch that movie either that came out about the girl who goes back in time and meets Mr. Darcy and all. Nope. Darcy and Elizabeth all the way! LOL
Got it! It is "Lost in Austen". Didn't even need her to reply to my text!
Here is the link on imdb.com:

Enjoy!
I'm surprised I've never heard of this movie, actually. *Laughs* Thank God for goodreads! Books, and now movies :). Who woulda thunk it?
This site, along with likesbooks.com is where practically all my online hours are spent! I would spontaneously combust if this place were to be ripped from the cyber realm. I nearly had an epileptic fit whenever my account got hacked several months ago. (Would sign in as myself, and it would say I was signed in as anyone but myself.)
Truly, this place is my crack! lol
I used to be on Amazon.com all the time but am hardly ever there now. Then I used to track my books at fictiondb.com but it is nothing compared to GR which I'm on all the time! So glad MelissaB recommended it. :)That sucks about your account! Glad you got it worked out. Did they figure out what happened?
Oh, amen hon! I've found a few other sites that were somewhat book directed, but no where near to the level of goodreads! I actually discovered it by accident when I was trying to remember the author of a book I had read in the past. Thank God for search browsers, lol.
As for my account being hacked, that was SO not fun. I'm not even sure how it worked itself out, since it started right after I accepted a random friend request. I got online again, and after entering the right information, it would say hi Patty or hi Christa and on and on, every single time.
Finally, after changing my yahoo sign in, deleting the new add, and changing my password a TON, it finally started working again.
I actually didn't even contact goodreads about it, because back then I hadn't even realized goodreads offer message boards- let alone a goodreads feedback message board. (The weird thing is that I didn't really keep up with goodreads too much back then, but after my account was hacked, I started using it even more so once it was straightened out.)
Weird! Yeah, I try not to accept any friends I don't know through other people on GR or thru posts like this. Glad you got it all worked out on your own cool.
Exactly! And I'm so lucky it did in fact work itself out, otherwise I'd be up shite's creek, sans a paddle.
Time Travel and Ghosts are my top #1 favs, and Pearl and Jacquline I agree with the Darcy book 100%,hes also one of my top 5 heros. My computer crashed so I have to redo my TT list but I`m working on it.
