Joanne | 8 comments I'm going to start reading tonight and wondered if there was an assignment to get us ready for Sunday.

Looking forward to this. I've never done anything like this before.

I am so happy to be doing different things

Thank you AMY!

Everyone ready? Lets start with Step One. It's the first 21 pages and first 2 chapters. After you do the questionnaire in Chapter 2 it might have you skip chapters due to your answers. Ya'll choice if you want to stick to that or do a read through all together. I think those chapters still hold lots of useful info.

Just a note ahead. We are going to be reading the Magnesium Miracle by Dr. Carolyn Dean next.

Let's shoot to have this reading done by Tues. It's not a lot. If that's too soon - please let me know.

message 7: by Joanne (new)

Joanne | 8 comments I'll have the reading done by Tuesday - the scary thing is that I answered above the cut off in all four areas. The first two were the highest.

Amber (hippiefemme) Did you know that Julia Ross has a website just for The Mood Cure? It has the four false moods and the questionnaire, plus loads of other helpful information and links.

Thanks Amber - forgot to poast that.

Amber (hippiefemme) Just out of curiosity, how long will we normally spend on books? I'd thought it would be like a regular book club and take one book per month. I understand if you'd like to go more slowly, but if anyone else has a book from a library, we'll run out of time. I get a book for a month and can renew it once, so I only get two months per book. Normally it isn't a problem to check it in and then check it right back out, but if someone else puts the book on hold, we won't be able to participate fully by citing points in the book because the book will go to the next person on the list. I don't figure it'll be a problem with the types of books we read, but it could be an issue for people who can't renew.

Your right. Totally my fault. How far has everyone gotten? Wanna get this one wrapped up & I will be better prepared for the next one. I'll post some discussion questions tomorrow. The last part of the book is recipes. Think we can finish this week. Post your thoughts.

I've finished, for the record! I'm ready to rock and roll. Normally I wouldn't mind returning the book and just following discussion, but I need the book to point to certain supplements in various chapters. I don't want to skip ahead of anyone in discussion.

message 16: by Joanne (new)

Joanne | 8 comments This is the kind of book I will need to keep referring to. I borrowed the book from the lobrary - but finally decided I would need to have this book around as a reference so decided to take the plunge and buy it. I'm glad I did - now I can write lots of notes in the margins.
As far as discussions go - it's so individual. Everyone's problems might be slightly different. I have started taking the supplements, but since I have problems in all four areas, I am a little concerned about taking 20plus supplements/day .

My thoughts are to start simple. I would focus on getting balanced first. Then add the others and see what you might need. Some of them are not very expensive and you may not need them overtime. Then again you might see a big difference in just taking the regular supplements. Compliance is the key. They only work if you take them.

So here is what we'll do. Let's close this one out & make a plan for the next. The Magnesium Miracle. Since they are not like novels lets just post as we think of something. How about a book a month? Let me know of thoughts for the next books. I have a few ideas, but want to see what your thinking.

message 18: by Joanne (new)

Joanne | 8 comments Love the idea of the Magnesium Miracle. Looking forward to it.

I will be keeping the Mood Cure front and centre - it's on my microwave and I refer to it all the time.

Magnesium Miracle might be the same.

message 19: by Natalie (new)

Natalie Cardon (nat88888888) I would probably participate more if the pace was slower, or if the comments were open for as long as people wanted, so the quick readers could post sooner, and the slow people could post later...? A book a month is too many, I think. Remember, we are a bunch of overwhelmed people!!! At least, I definitely fall into that category. :)

Also, I liked posting comments chapter by chapter or section by section. It gives me intermediate "goals."

I also bought and will be happily keeping the Mood Cure. I look at it like a guide to solve mood problems as easily as taking a tylenol for a headache. I was feeling the "blahs," and I opened up the book, checked what supplements she recommended, (which for me was adding grape seed extract & tyrosine) and it felt better the very next day!

Well I don't see why we couldn't do both then. There is no limit. Last thing I want is for you to feel overwhelmed. As far as I know these forums should stick around a while. How about I will make a plan & set the forums up by book & chapter. When your ready jump in where you are. How's that?

message 21: by Joanne (new)

Joanne | 8 comments Sounds great Amy. I read the book pretty quickly, but I do need to re-read to fully understand it.

message 22: by Laur laur (new)

Laur laur Loops | 3 comments I just read about 2 books... well actually saw them promoted somewhere that Might be interested. Both were from Gwenyth Paltrows newsletter goop and here are some links

http://www.amazon.com/Lights-Out-Slee...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1416...

just to throw out there as suggestions

and I love the new idea for the book I am still not finished been busy and haven't had time to read as much and with as much detail as I prefer.

Amber (hippiefemme) Amy wrote: "How about I will make a plan & set the forums up by book & chapter. When your ready jump in where you are."

The forum threads do stick around permanently (unless the group moderator--you--deletes them), so I like this idea. If you're a quick reader or happen to have spare time some month, you could finish in a month. If you're a slower reader or particularly busy, you could take your time.

My only concern is about the people who do read more slowly. What if they get behind? Will we stop and wait for everyone to catch up every few months?

message 24: by Amy (new)

Amy Furbee (TheHatchedEgg) | 37 comments Mod
Nope we'll keep on the month pattern & post notes. They can catch up when ready. That will give others the opportunity who join in later to start on their own. Sound good?

message 25: by Amber (new)

Amber (hippiefemme) Sounds good to me! I love structure. =)

message 26: by Sara (new)

Sara | 5 comments This sounds so great! I'm ready to post thoughts on chapter 7, but know I shouldn't do that on this topic.

Sara,

I don't have my book here with me. But I set up a thread for Chapter 7. Add your thoughts when Ready. I will also get threads created for the other chapters.
