Science Fiction Book Club discussion

I thought this book was slow and not much happened in it. There was no suspence and it wasn't an addictive read. The story wasn't bad though.

i've read the whole series and i thought Lirial was definatly better, in a sense Sabrial just seems to give background for the rest of the stories since the main character doesn't appear in any of the other books.

I guess it's like 'His Dark Materials' trilogy then since I was told the second book was better. I just didn't find the writing interesting enough for me to bother carrying on with the series.
