Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments Somewhere out there is an abandoned Harry Potter book... We need to give it a chance... LOL; I'm pretty sure someone in this group has read the Harry Potter series and absolutely luhvs them. What was your favorite part? Your favorite character(s)?

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

9 years ago I read the beginning books when I was pregnant with my oldest son. Now I plan on picking up some of the later books.

message 3: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments That's a good idea. Have you seen all of the movies up to Half-Blood Prince?

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Actually I owe all the movies at least two times. My boys watch the movies so often that one disc doesn't cut it. CD's just scratch way too easily!

message 5: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments Definitely. Anyone have a favorite book in the series?

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) | 86 comments I loved the Prisoner of Azkaban x]

message 7: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments Haha, I usually tell people my favorite is HBP, but I guess it's a tie between it and DH.

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) | 86 comments Too many people died in DH!!!

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments ((Prisoner of Azkaban, not Prince!!))

Yeah, it was bad enough that Snape died, but when I went back and looked at some quotes that I typed, I remembered that Fred died. That was a very tearful, unhappy moment for me.... :(

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) | 86 comments ((Yeah, I thought that sounded wrong! :P Thanks!))

And Hedwig died!!!

message 11: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments Yeah.... That book seems to have a lot of bad endings for people. Oh and Remis and Tonks died too! :"(

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments Okay, as much as /i love the series finale, it's starting to make my eyes water. LOL :)

What?? Fred died! That is so wrong & sad. I'm guessing that is DH.

Allie :: literarilythrilling (literarilythrilling) I love POA, but HBP and DH are my favorites. I'm incredibly excited for the last movies. Hopefully they will be better adaptations since they split it up into two.

I'm currently re-reading this series, in the middle of Order of the Phoenix. While I enjoy the story (overall) in this one, I find Harry to be his most annoying in this one.

Favorite characters would be the entire Weasley family (sans Percy), Neville, Snape, Bellatrix, Dumbledore, Lupin and Hagrid.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

The Weasley Twins. It is always a good ball of fun when they come into scene.

Allie :: literarilythrilling (literarilythrilling) Angela wrote: "never a dull moment when Fred and George Weasley were around. I actually started to cry when Fred died. He was one of my favorites."

I was actually kinda mad when I read that haha. I knew a lot of people I loved were going to die but I wasn't prepared for that.

Agreed, it wasn't.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Sounds like I really need to read DH.

message 21: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments Yes, you really do. You're missing out on all the meaningful moments.

Allie, I currently re-reading the series as well; in the middle of PoA right now.

message 22: by Pandy (new)

Pandy I love all the HP books - they're my most favorite of all time! It's hard to pick favorites within the series, but I especially like the Deathly Hallows (DH) and Order of the Phoenix (OotP). I think the movies are good adaptations, with the possible exception of the Goblet of Fire (GoF). Half-blood Prince (HBP) is my favorite film - I prefer the more artistic adaptations (again with the exception of GoF) to Columbus' first two films, which try to be too faithful to the books in my opinion.

message 23: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Pfaff (kl_pfaff) HBP was my absolute favorite of the series, but that's because I LOVE Snape. I was disappointed in the movie only because they put too much focus on Harry and his love life. I felt like they barely even touched on the whole half blood prince issue, but that is just because I wanted there to be more Snape. :(

I started crying when Hedwig died. It was so sad. The next day I was at the mall and I found a stuffed Hedwig at FYE and bought it on the spot. Sentimental reasons, I suppose.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

I really liked the GoF. I think I liked that movie the best. I don't like PoA because I get bored at the end when they repeated everything that just happened. But I would have to say that my most favorite part of the all the movies is the talking shrunken head and the bus driver. I laugh every time even though I've seen the movie 500 times.

message 25: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments Ha, I love that part!

Kristen: I'm not a Snape fan, but I do think they could have explained the half blood prince concept.

Angela: I definitely agree. They didn't even explain everything about Horcruxes or Voldemort. To me, those were the best parts of the book.

message 26: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer i love these books, and the movies. if i want to watch tv and theres nothing on that i always go to harry potter. sometimes i have marathons starting w/ movie 1 and going up to 6. i have parts of each of the movies memorized, especially 4 which is my favorite!

message 27: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments Well, we do a HP marathon every few movies when they come out. We always wait until the DVD comes out, s it's never a problem for us. When OotP came out, we watched 1-5. When DH (part 1) comes out, my mom wants to do another marathon, but I'm trying to make her wait until part 2 comes out. It will be a lot better then, in my opinion.

message 28: by Jordan (new)

Jordan (flyinglogicmonkey) | 150 comments Ha, I do that too. And check all the news articles/interviews obsessively...

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

I enjoy a good movie marathon when I have some yummy popcorn to go with it. And some Ju Ju Bees. JK about the Ju Ju Bees.

When is DH coming out??? 2 Parts... I guess they are really trying to make the already intense practically unbearable!!

message 30: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Pfaff (kl_pfaff) Part 1 this November and I think part 2 in May 2011, but I could be wrong.

Is anybody a super Harry Potter nerd and planning a trip to Florida to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter when it opens? I kind of am. Seriously.

message 31: by Pandy (new)

Pandy You're not wrong about the DH film dates. (As of now, the release dates for the two parts are November 19, 2010 and July 15, 2011 in the U.S. and U.K.) I'd like to go to the park, but I don't think I'll get to when it opens.

message 32: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments Well my family is going to Disney World and Universal Studios this summer and we're gonna go see it. Can't wait! :)

message 33: by KSMary (new)

KSMary We can never pass up a HP movie when it's on. Last night Prisoner of Azkaban was on TV and guessed what we watched? LOL

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

I have to wait a few more years until all of my boys are old enough to go. I'd like to go check it out myself. But there really is no point if they can't do anything. I have a feeling that it will be a permanent part of the park.
