What do you think of his dark humor? Have you read any of his books or all of them? Watched any of the movies based on his books? (Fight Club & Choked) Discuss all and everything Palahniuk here.

I am one of the rare females that loves Fight Club. Book & Movie. I have the rules of Fight Club on my ipod and they shout out when my mom calls, LOL!

Choke was interesting but I haven't seen the movie yet. My next book will be Rant.

Kristen Pfaff (kl_pfaff) I'm one of those Fight Club loving females too.

I thought Choke made an excellent movie, although I'm not sure that I would have known what was going on the whole time if I hadn't read the book already.

Let me know what you think of Rant. There are few books that I despise completely, and Palahniuk has written two of them. One of them is Rant. The other is Pygmy.

Oh, I'll let you know what I think. Haunted is the one I really want to get to.

message 5: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Pfaff (kl_pfaff) I haven't gotten to that one yet either. I have Invisible Monsters, Snuff, and Stranger Than Fiction waiting for me on my bookshelf though.

I heard Invisible Monsters is good. One of my professors told me it was a must read. You can tell he is not typical. LOL!

Cathrine (cathrine_bock) I've loved Chuck Palahniuk ever since I randomly picked up Lullaby at the library. It's not just his incredibly dark humor and the psychoses of his characters, but also his writing sometimes reads more like poetry because it's so rhythmic and lyrical.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Cathy, what other books have you read?

message 9: by Cathrine (new)

Cathrine (cathrine_bock) Of Palahniuk's? I've only fully read Lullaby, Fight Club and Survivor (which I'm reading again). I'm also part way through Invisible Monsters, Haunted, and Choke. I have a hard time hunkering down into one book at a time. :)

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Me too. How are you liking Haunted? Is it as disturbing as I heard?

message 11: by Cathrine (new)

Cathrine (cathrine_bock) I'm not really liking it as much of his other books. I got about three quarters through it, but haven't picked it up again in over a year. But yes! it is definitely disturbing. One particular image involving a metal rod and a particular male organ has been burned into my mind. Ick.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

Ah, I wont ask. I'll have to pick it some day. What am I getting myself into? LOL!

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Choke was dark and twisted. A bit gross in parts. It was a bit much, but I loved it anyway. How any people can write like that? Just Chuck!

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Hmm... I'm not really sure.

message 15: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Pfaff (kl_pfaff) He does. It is called Tell All and comes out at the beginning of May.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

Kudos for letting us into the loop!

message 17: by Andrez (new)

Andrez (andrez-ssi) ive never heard of him before

message 18: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Pfaff (kl_pfaff) I recommend reading Fight Club if you have never read any Palahniuk before. It is worth it, trust me.

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, fight club isthe safest start. Then you can feel out his writing style.

message 20: by Annaclaire (new)

Annaclaire | 28 comments I've read fight club and Rant, and enjoyed both. Contrary to what everyone else says, Rant is probably one of my favorite books of all time and come to think of it, I should reread it.
