Just let it all out. Did you love the book, were you indifferent?

Julia (jujulia) I didn't have any high expectations on this one, especially as i sometimes find myself indifferent with extremely short novels, but this one grew on me. I especially liked the scene in which Holly leaves the cat which she had refused to name just to break down in the next moment realizing that - without ever wanting to be attached to anything or anyone - she loves this cat and cares for it. She's so defiantly maintaining her independence, and then in the end she's just another human being who's scared and who'se afraid of becoming a stray cat without friends herself. The end is consoling, with the cat sitting in a nice lit living room, most probably belonging to someone and having a name - hopefully Holly has had the same destiny.

Jason (jason_b) I didn't like Holly; I never warmed to her in any way. I probably would have found her physically attractive across a medium-sized cocktail party (duh!), but upon introduction, the condescending "dahling this" and "dahling that," I would have found the quickest, surest way back to the shrimp scampi. The writing is clear, economical; Capote has a way... 3-stars.

My summaries in the following formats: PARAGRAPH, FACEBOOK, TWITTER, HAIKU, MORSE CODE.

Sadie I'm pretty luke warm on this one. It was ok, but I never really connected to any of the characters.

Jason (jason_b) Catherine, good point. He does the same thing In Cold Blood but to a much greater overall effect. It's the one Capote book that I'd recommend to anyone, not Breakfast.
