Hi everyone,

My name is Jen and I am fast disapearing under a huge to be read pile!!! I have always loved reading and now I have a new genre to love!!

Just discovering the joys of the paranormal world, there are so many books and series out there that I am a little overwhelmed as to which to read. I have pick up the Sookie Stackhouse series right now which I love and will probably read Anita Blake, JR Ward or Twilight next (yeah, I'm one of the 10 people who have not read it yet!!!)

Look forward to discussing books with you as we take our journey.

Naomi (naomifluffy) | 18 comments Hi Jen! My name is Naomi, and I have read the Sookie Stackhouse series and I love them. How have you only just found out about the paranormal world?! lol.
What's Anita Blake? It sounds interesting. I have read Twilight about a billion times, but I am not obsessed, as all my friends say lol.

Naomi,

Anita Blake is by Laurell K Hamilton which I have been recommended to read, but I'm warned its a "love it or hate it series"!!!!! Anita is a necromance(can raise the dead)and its got vampires and lots of other paranormal too. Also been warned it changes over the series to become a lot more adult.

I am a bit slow to discover the joys of the world of paranormal books aren't I!!!! Wish I'd read the Sookie Stackhouse books when I got the first six given a while back now!! What was I thinking reading crime books instead!!

message 4: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (naomifluffy) | 18 comments Hey Jen. I shall find that series and read it asap, cause it sounds good lol. You had the series a while back? I seen the first book in a bookstore, and wanted to read it ever since.
Hve you read the dragonkeeper series by Carole Wilkonson? It's not exactly paranormal, but its got dragons and necromancers in it, so its ok.
Dragon Keeper (The Dragonkeeper series #1) by Carole Wilkinson (It doesn't look like this, but you get the drift)
ttyl, Naomi

message 5: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) The second book in the Anita series will get you hooked. Around book 5 each book gets a little worst with the sex. By the teens it's almost erotica (but apparently people who read that say it's not "erotic" enough). If you stick with them though, around 14 or 15 they start to taper off a bit again and you go back to the books you love. I really liked them, although I did skip a few pages when things I didn't know where physically possible were happening.

message 6: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (naomifluffy) | 18 comments Hmm, I think I'll do that too, if that's the case.

message 7: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) At least read the first few and then decide if you want to finish them. I'm shocked I kept reading because I'm even new to the romance side. Not big on the super slut side. =)

message 8: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Rose (amandarose) | 11 comments Hi Ladies Nice to meet you all...

My name is Amanda Rose. I'm a huge bookaholic! lol. I've read tons of Paranormal romance books and just can't get enough. My Tbr list somehow keeps growing no matter how many books I read lol.

Let's see what else. I just completed my first novel a few weeks ago and in the process of looking for an agent... hmm besides that i'm sure you'll learn a lot more.

message 9: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Hi ladies my name is Lauren.

I love paranormal romances! I have read a bunch of them and my favorites and must reads are Anita blake series, BDB, Dark hunters, immortals after dark and the demonica series just to name a few.

message 10: by Book Huntress (new)

Book Huntress (bookhuntress) | 30 comments Hi everyone,

I am another Jennifer and although i have been reading paranormal type books for a while I am just really getting "into" the whole thing. Goodreads has been a absolute godsend as I have found SO many books and series here.

I LOVE the BDB series and most definitely suggest that one. i am also a big LKH fan. The Anita series is good, take a few books to get going and it does get kind of "sexy" for a while but it does balance out after a few. Jen if you like crime and paranormal you are gonna love Anita!!! LKH's other series Merry Gentry is also really good, completely different but I just love it.

Oh I am right there with you i am one of the other 10 that hasn't read twilight, I can't get it from the library and since my book budget is tight I refuse to buy it. I only buy books I absolutely love and will reread (ie BDB series, LKH books, etc).

I will admit I am still getting over the "romance" part of this, I couldn't believe I had to go into that section to buy one of the BDB series books, my husband was loving teasing me about it!!!!

Lynne - The Book Squirrel (squirrelsend) Hi I am Lynne I read anything! Big Stephen King fan and John Saul too. Have PC Cast on my bookcases and Rachel Caine in my Sony Reader.
I read Twilight out of curiosity but didn't think much of it. I have just read Kelly Armstrong's Dime Store Magic.
I tend to read lots of books at a time and go from one to the other! I have 12 on the go at the moment!

Thanks for the invite Jen

message 12: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Hi! My names is VampFanGirl and I've been a lover of Paranormal Romance for about four or five years. My favorite paranormal authors include Meljean Brook, Nalini Singh, Joey W. Hill, J.R. Ward, Kresley Cole, Lora Leigh, and Erin Quinn.

In the past year I've really started branching out into Fantasy reads such as Jess Granger and Denise Rossetti, as well as Urban Fantasy with Chloe Neill and Patricia Briggs.

While I'm not a fast reader, I can still put away about sixty books a year and I can offer dozens of recommendations. I've plans of trying out Ann Aguire, Skyler White, Gayle Ann Williams and Tammy Kane this year so hopefully I can offer up some good new recs soon.

Thanks for inviting me to what looks to be an exciting group of paranormal romance lovers. I'm super excited to be here!

HUGS, VFG

message 13: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Hello, I'm Lisa and I read pretty much anything, but usually get drawn back into anything remotely supernatural in between 'big' reads.

I haven't tried any BDB, and seeing as so many seem to rate it I may now have to (my to-read pile is ridiculous). I really enjoy the Sookie Stackhouse series, but am up to book 5 in the Anita Blake series and can't say I'm convinced yet. I'm not sure if it's the writing or Anita herself, but something's just not doing it for me.

I enjoyed the Twilight series despite myself, but adore the Vampire Chronicles, and am a big fan of Neil Gaiman, Stephen King, and John Alvijde Almqvist (Let The Right One In, a very dark swedish vampire book which is excellent.)

Thanks for inviting me to be a part of the group, I look forward to lots of recommendations!

Jennifer Salaiz (jennifersalaiz) | 2 comments Hello, everyone! My name is Jennifer. I'm a paranormal author, but more on the erotica side. message 37: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (Hannahbanana1980) | 10 comments Hey everyone, I was never a big reader untill recently, maybe a year ago, I got started on the sookie books through my mother-in-law,I wanted to read them because (truthfully) I am addicted to the show true blood on HBO. ☺♥ Anyhoo, that got me into the paranormal and vampire books, my mother-in-law loves them, she calls it vampire porn.☺ She has more interest in the romance novels than I, I think I have an eclectic taste. I read the vampire chronicles (anne rice) when I was in my teens, and got into Stephen King. Besides that I was never a big reader. My mom is, she introduced me to King and Rice, but when she brought out Tolkien I just could not get into it. I liked the movies, but the books just seemed to be to much then, maybe I should try again. Sometimes I need to get away from the vampire porn and the paranormal and try to read other things, I like Mary Kay Andrews her books are about strong southern women that get nocked down and get right back up. She also throws in some antiques and old homes for fun. She also puts yummy recipes in the back of all her books. I still always go back to the paranomal and my wonderfull world of vampires in the long run.♥

Courtney (paranormalfantasies) | 14 comments *waves* Hi Everyone! Thanks for the invite Jen! I am totally addicted to reading... I love paranormal romance, urban fantasy, erotica, contemporary romance and some mystery... mostly though, I stick with Vamps and Shifters... I do love me some alpha males ;) Some of my favs are The Maker's Song series by Adrian Phoenix, the Chicagoland Vampires series by Chloe Neill, Anita Blake by LKH, Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs... well I could go on for pages... Anyways, you can usually find me reading with a cup of coffee or blogging about what I read with a cup of coffee... I'm currently working on a couple of my own projects and hope to have them completed before going to AAD in Sept... Well that pretty much covers it!

S.K. (skmanganelli) *morning*

My name is Sheree, I'm 40 and the single mother of three girls (14, 12 and 5) and I live in Sussex in the UK. I adore paranormal romances - ranging from the J R Ward Brotherhood (Rehvenge is my favourite although I am counting the days to John Matthew's book coming out this year) to Anita Blake. Love me some Lora Leigh although found Guilty Pleasure a real trial to read (n0ot sure why).

Patricia Briggs, Charlaine Harris, Lynn Viehl - too many to name really! Joined Goodreads because I wanted some proper recommendations as Amazon keeps giving me duds!

So hello to all!

message 45: by Cindyg (new)

Cindyg (brotherlover) | 4 comments Hi all...Cindy here. Thanks for the invite. I am a huge paranormal romance fan, like it with erotica in the mix. I've only been reading for about 1 1/2 years now and started out with the Twilight series. Then I found the adult series, which are much more satisfying for me. I have read Keri Arthur's Riley Jenson series, Lara Adrian's Midnight Breeds Series, Rhyannon Byrd's Primal Instinct series, Nina Bang's Castle of Dark Dream series, Elizabeth Amber's The Lords of Satyr series, Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series, Christina Dodd's Darkness Chosen series, Angela Cameron's Blood and Sex series, Kate Douglas's Wolf Tales, Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series, Jacqueline Frank's The Nightwalkers series, Cynthia Eden's Midnight series, Amelia Elias' Leaque of Guardian series, LKH's Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series, Joey W. Hill's Vampire Queen's series and Daughter of Adrianne series (HOT), Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series, Lynda Hilburn's Kismet Knight series, Larissa Ione's Demonica series, Alexandra Ivy's Guardians of Eternity series, Lora Leigh's The Breeds series, Sherri L. King's Fetish, Kenyon's Dark Hunters series (HOT), Kenyon's The Leaque series, Alexis Morgan's The Paladins and Talon series, Chloe Neill's Chicagoland Vampire series, Adrian Phoenix's The Makers Song series, Michelle M. Pillow's Tribes of the Vampire series, Anne Rice's Erotic Trilogy of Sleeping Beauty series, Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld and Atlantis series, Lynsay Sands' The Argeneau series, Kerrelyn Sparks' Love at Stake series, J.R Wards' BDB and Fallen Angel series. You should see my tbr pile...and I can't help myself, it's like an addiction...I shop at least once a week and if I go with two of my reading buddies we hit three books stores and go crazy. My husband just shakes his head when I walk in the door with by bags. Can't help it, I love my books.
So as you can see I read and read and read. I get so lost in the books. You'll never see me without one in my hands.
I look forward to sharing book recommendations and making new friends.

Almost all of the books I've read recently have been some type of paranormal books, usually romance as PNR is my favorite genre. My favorite authors would have to be Gena Showalter, Kresley Cole, J. R. Ward, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Richelle Mead, P. C. Cast, and Charlaine Harris. I'm currently reading Lover Revealed, the 4th BDB book. Last night I bought the latest Kresley Cole and Gena Showalter books and two Sherrilyn Kenyon books. What can I say? It's an addiction. And it's nice to meet fellow addicts! :D
