Cassie sat in her room, her the maid tightening her corset for another mascarde, she gasped lgihtly at each tight pull pressing her chest up and limiting her breath.
"Come now Grace, we're going to be late." Marcus called to his sister, who had just finished getting her corsette laced up and was adjusting the boddess on her gown to cover more of her chest than her brother would find acceptable. She gave up and put on her mask, walking downstairs in her white gown and shoes and mask. She struggled to breathe easily.
Cassie straightened out her blue dress, trying to pull it up a bit to cover her cleavage, but her moth'ers glare did her form doing otherwise. "I'll see you alter darling!" she called with a smile, Cassie rolled her eyes and slipped her gold wired mask over her eyes.
Marcus and Grace were loaded into their carraige and whisked away."I cannot see the point of going to stuffy dances Marcus." Grace sighed
"So you might meet a man, it's mothers dying wish." he reminded.
"I shall never marry." she muttered.
"You think that now."
Cassie took her hair out of the tight bun the moment she walked into the ballroom, her long wavy golden, brown locks falling down her back, she put her hands on her hips and rolled her eyes at another ball.
Grace and Marcus stood together, conversing and laughing. Many med eyed Grace, not only was she beautiful, but she had been left a heafty sum of money by her dead parents. Marcus was watched by both women young and old. He had charm and money, and manners beyond compare.
Cassie leaned against the wall, sipping some wine, she rolled her eyes as everybody eyed he now ntering rich family, she sighed eyeing the clock. Yes her family had money, not as much s somef families at ball but a good enough amount to get a few guys looking, but money was not the main reason she was easily spectated.
Marcus moved away from offers to dance shyly, exscusing himself to get a drink while his sister was forced to dance with a very proud, arrogant man.
Cassie hummed to herself, sipping her third glass of wine, hanging around the back, turning away another pompus rich guy asking her for a dance.
Marcus retrieved a glass of wine, smiling slightly at the women who watched him--gossips. He sighed, hating this, almost as much as Grace.
Cassie sghed after a dance and walked out onto the ballroom courtyard, strewn with lgihts and compltely away frome veryone else, she leaned against the balcony, looking over the garden.
Cassie looked down over the balcony at the vines lined down the building, it wouldn't be too far of a climb. Cassie looked around to see if anyone was looking at her and she pinned her dress up so it was to the top of her thigh and threw her hair in a messy bun, still wearin her mask sheclimbed over the blacony, starting to shimmy down the side of the building.
Marcus exited to the front of the estate, getting some air. He couldnt hear or see anyone. He slumped against the wall, breathing.
Cassie eased her way alomst there, but someone was in her way a bit, she groaned rolling her eyes, trying to move over to the rigt she fell the last few squealing as she did so, falling onto the grass.
Marcus looked up in surprise at the fallen person. "Are you allright?" he asked, swiftly running to the aid of the person on the ground, his eyes shining with curiousity and worry.
Cassie put her hands up in front of her. "eh!" she said. "Paws off fabio," she said sitting up and brushing her hair out to remove the grass, she stood up and brushed her dress off and unpinned it back from the top of her thigh to her ankles, she took a deep breath and looked over at the guy. "Sorry about that." she said putting her hands on her hips.
"O ya" she nodded. "Definitely not a first." she smirked mischeviously, she looked back up the building, making sure no one was looking down. "Can you keep a secret?" she asked marcus.
She smiled. "GOod." she slipped her big blue dress off so she was wearing her black underdress and corset, she pulled a key from her chest and put it into a whole in the wall of the building openinga small door she slipped her dress into, she took her mask off and slipped it in as well and stood back up. "Tell and you die." she said, pointing the key at him.

"I wont utter a word." Marcus promised. "I think I like having my limbs as they are." he chuckled.Grace was swayed here and there, forced to dance with man after man as her uncle demanded
Scipio wandered the manor gardens, his cape swishing out behind him. He hadn't even bothered to remove his mask, and he wasn't looking where he was going. He finaly sighed and re-entered the ball room, not planning to dance with anyone. He leaned against the wall, glancing at Grace.
She pulled away from her partner when the music ended, curtsying. She sighed and walked to the table, picking herself a glass of champaigne. She leaned back, her eyes watching the dancers as another song started up. Her eye caught on the masked stranger at the other end of the hall.
Scipio smiled at her, chuckling. She was beautiful, prettier than most of the dancers in the hall, if not all of them.
She raised an eyebrow at this laughing man, curious. She allowed a small, brave smirk to dance across her lips before she brought her glass to them once more, taking a long drink.
The song ended, and another one started up, faster then the last one. Scipio looked around and started making his way over to Grace.
Grrace averted her gaze from the advancing stranger and began adjusting her mask and brushing her golden waves of hair over her shoulders.
"And what is one such as pretty as you doing over here, not dancing?" He asked her, smirking slightly.
Grace looked up, raising a brow. "I could ask you the same, good sir. You seem to be very alone tonight, while I have been forced to dance with almost every elligable man in the ballroom. Pray tell, why have I not seen you before?"
He frowned. "Every one? I do pity you." Scipio chuckled, looking at the dancers. "But if you must know, you haven't seen me before because I usually prefer not to go here."
She smiled, laughing softly. "Lucky you." she said. "My name is Grace, by the by sir, may I inquire yours?"(Brb)
"Scipio." He said his name like it was poison. "I assure you, I have no idea what my mother was thinking when she named me."
She felt a blush rise in her cheeks, but thankfully her mask was able to partially cover it. "Thank you." she said quietly, averting her eyes. "what brings you out to this one ball?"
"I see" she said with a nod. "My uncle wishes the same. My mother died last spring, and her dying wish was that I marry. Once my uncle became the legal gaurdian of me, then I was forced to every ball with my brother Marcus." she said, shaking her head. "You should have no trouble finding a suitable wife, you're young and attractive-" she said this passively, as if she was commenting on the weather. "-and there are pleanty of young girls out there, some so desperate that they would marry you as soon as you proposed." Grace said.
Scipio blinked, but otherwise said nothing about her comment. "But you?" He said, casually changing the subject. "There are no men that catch your eye?"
Her mouth opened slightly, a small smile pulling on the corners of her mouth. "Sure, there are men who are attractive." she said passively. "But all as arrogant and proud as the next, unwilling to commit for any other reason than money. You see, Scipio, I wish to marry for love, not for money like everyone else does."
"Oh." she said, her green eyes meeting his. "Thank you." she said softly. "No one ever sees eye to eye with me when the topic comes up." she admitted
