Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 671 comments I sang Everything I Do (I Do It for You) to my hubby at our wedding, so that is "our" song.

Also, Baby, Baby by Amy Grant was responsible in a round-about way for our meeting. Long story.;-)

More favs:
Truly, Madly, Deeply - Savage Garden
Faithfully - Journey
Will You Still Love Me, What Kind of Man Would I Be?, You're the Inspiration - Chicago
Faithfully, (I Wanna Take) Forever Tonight, Wanna Be There - Peter Cetera
Let's Make a Night to Remember, I'll Always Be Right There, You're Still Beautiful to Me, Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman? - Bryan Adams
Thank You for Loving Me - Bon Jovi
My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion
She's Like the Wind - Patrick Swayze
Bring Me to Life - Evanesence
Breathe - Faith Hill
Amazed - Lonestar
Possession - Sarah McLachlan
I'm a Believer - Smash Mouth
Into the Night - Santana/Chad Kroeger

I love a bunch of them too :)

message 5: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14535 comments listening to Secret Love by Freddy Fender. An oldie but I still love it :)

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

It totally outs me as a Twifan, but I loved the Iron & Wine track from Twilight. Sadly every other song written by him (them?) sounds exactly the same, but Flightless Bird, American Mouth is truly gorgeous and makes me go all gooey and dreamy every time I hear it.

message 7: by Julianna (new)

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 671 comments I love that one too, Moss. It's a really beautiful song.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 146 comments At Last by Etta James
Let's Stay Together by Al Green
Taking Chances by Celine Dion

I listen to a lot of alternative music, so my kind of romantic probably isn't everyone else's. I like the moody, depressing stuff, like Depeche Mode, etc.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 146 comments Julie, I saw that you posted Possession by Sarah McLachlan. I love that song. My favorites on there are Elsewhere and Fumbling Towards Ecstasy.

message 10: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 7 comments Starlings by Elbow
It is just beautiful.

How dare the Premier ignore my invitations?
He'll have to go
So, too, the bunch he luncheons with
It's second on my list of things to do

At the top I'm stopping by
Your place of work and acting like
I haven't dreamed of you and I
And marriage in an orange grove
You are the only thing in any room you're ever in
I'm stubborn, selfish and too old.

I sat you down and told you how
the truest love that's ever found
Is for oneself
You pulled apart my theory
With a weary and disinterested sigh

So yes I guess I'm asking you
To back a horse that's good for glue
And nothing else
But find a man that's truer than,
Find a man that needs you more than I

Sit with me a while
And let me listen to you talk about
your dreams and your obsessions
I'll be quiet and confessional
The violets explode inside me
when I meet your eyes
Then I'm spinning and I'm diving
Like a cloud of starlings

Darling is this love?

I love that song, too!

message 13: by Ez (new)

Ez (ezrah-rah) Let's see. Some of these have been mentioned, but here goes...

(Everything I Do) I Do It For You - Bryan Adams
I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston
Let's Stay Together - Al Green
I Don't Want to Miss a Thing - Aerosmith
Pagan Poetry - Bjork
Possession - Sarah MacLachlan
I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) - The Proclaimers
Unchained Melody - The Righteous Brothers
Stand Inside Your Love - The Smashing Pumpkins (My husband made a slideshow of pictures for me with this song playing in the background and he used it during his proposal.)

And that's all I can think of at this moment...

message 14: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14535 comments Harper I recognize most... had to youtube a few but nice list :)

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) Air Supply was always one of my favs as far as romantic tunes : )

message 16: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14535 comments I went to an Air Supply concert back in the 80's. Love them.

message 17: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 85 comments I love to hear 'Love is in the Air','Unchained Melody', 'Pretty Woman' and too many others to list....
In addition, 'Lara's Theme', and some classical music.

message 18: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14535 comments Great tunes, Margaret!

message 19: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 85 comments Thanks, Pamela!

message 20: by Denyse (last edited Jun 17, 2012 04:24PM) (new)

Denyse Cohen (DenyseCohen) | 15 comments There's so many but top of my head "When you love someone" by Brian Adams (it was my wedding's song) and "Wish you were here" by Pink Floyd, "Falling In" by Life House, "Good witch of the North" by Everclear...

I tend to like sad love songs, lol (maybe a have a country gene on me)

I could go on forever, even not including the Brazilian love songs that were part of my teenage years—when people believe they won't be able to love anyone else the way they loved their high school crush. It was intense!

message 21: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14535 comments lol. Those teenage crushes are rough. Back then when you know it all and no one can convince you otherwise. I have a 12 yr old and I am NOT looking forward to those teen years. She already imagines herself in love with this boy or that.

message 22: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 85 comments Teenagers don't seem to have changed in attitude for decades!

message 23: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Hey, teenagers have one word in their job description: Rebel!

message 24: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 85 comments :)

message 25: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14535 comments Yep, that's the word. Of course my rebeling consisted of reading continuously. I didn't even want to go out with friends (I didn't have many - I was shy) because I wanted to stay home and finish a book

message 26: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) Lots of good songs already mentioned. A couple to add:

Sometimes When We Touch - Dan Hill
Dance With Me Slow - Beth Nielsen Chapman
The Way You Look Tonight; Sway - Michael Buble'

message 27: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14535 comments Thanks, Heather.

message 28: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 85 comments Sometimes When We Touch; my late mother liked that one.:)

message 29: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Sharp (margaretlynettesharp) | 85 comments Good one, Josephine!

message 30: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14535 comments Songs from when I was in high school (Dan Hill and Barry Manilow) ☺

I had such a crush on Barry back then.

message 31: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14535 comments Nice looking feller ☺

message 32: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Hard living does that.

message 33: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments LOL! No, but I have it set to record on TiVo. Oh, dear!

message 34: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments Josephine wrote: "Listen Lisa I didn't forget my daughter's prom pictures, she took the memory card because she said she didn't come good in any of the 50 pictures I took. I have to steal it back when she is sleeping, LOL"

**snortsnort** That's funny. Sounds just like a teenager.

message 35: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Sharpe (abigailsharpe) | 2010 comments There's a song called "Hallelujah" done by many artists, but I'm thinking of the one by Jeff Buckley. It's got strange lyrics, but the swell of his voice and the music is very passionate.

message 36: by Heather L (new)

Heather L (wordtrix) That's a Leonard Cohen song, written and originally released by him. Great song. I have a CD with a version done by Bono, but other cover artists include K.D. Lang, Bob Dylan, Brandi Carlile, Espen Lind and Willie Nelson. I don't watch the show myself, but heard that coaches on "The Voice" sang it in tribute to Sandy Hook Elementary this past winter. LYRICS

message 37: by Christine (new)

Christine Feldman I love songs from lots of eras, but one of my favorite older ones is "I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face." I first heard it in the movie My Fair Lady, but my favorite version so far is one by Nat King Cole. Love those oldies but goodies!

message 38: by Rosanna (new)

Rosanna Leo (rosanna_leo) Even though I'm not a Rihanna fan (at all), her new song Stay is so haunting and evocative. I hear it and it strikes me as the soundtrack for a very steamy romance!

message 39: by Darlene (new)

Darlene Deluca (darlenedeluca) | 488 comments Did a blog about this a while back.
http://www.threewritersofromance.com/...

Some of my favs are:
Faithfully by Journey
You'll Accomp'ny Me by Bob Seger
Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton

message 40: by Christine (new)

Christine Feldman How about Lay Lady Lay by Bob Dylan?

message 41: by Jacqueline (new)

Jacqueline Rhoades (jackierhoades) | 192 comments Randy Travis' Forever and ever, Amen and the oldie but goody, Moon River

How absolutely lovely....
And seriously addictive!

message 43: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Sharpe (abigailsharpe) | 2010 comments I can't listen to music when I read, though (or write), because I'd sing along.

message 44: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14535 comments LOL Abigail, I can't watch tv or listen to music when I read. I get too distracted. I'll sing along too with music. As regards to the TV I find my book characters will look like whoever is on. Not good if my daughter is watching Spongebob or something.

I really love that song too.

message 46: by Abigail (last edited Aug 12, 2013 05:50PM) (new)

Abigail Sharpe (abigailsharpe) | 2010 comments You know what song I really love? That is, as long as it's not being used for a Burger King commercial.

I'll Melt With You by Modern English. It came out some time in the 80s.

I'll stop the world and melt with you.
I've seen the future and it's betting better all the time.
There's nothing you and I won't do.
I'll stop the world and melt with you.

message 47: by Pamela(AllHoney), Fairy Godmother (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14535 comments I love that song, Abigail!

message 48: by Lisa Kay, Tinker Bell (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments I had to look it up on YouTube, but yes... I like it!

message 49: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Sharpe (abigailsharpe) | 2010 comments Hubby (then boyfriend) used to go dancing at Old Wave night every Tuesday and they'd play this song. AG, the memories. ;)

message 50: by Rosanna (new)

Rosanna Leo (rosanna_leo) I must say, for romance, I adore Canadian band Blue Rodeo. They play rockabilly/rock/country type music (hard to pigeonhole them) and have some really angsty ballads that make me swoon.

In case you want to hear one, I recommend one called "After the Rain."

Fave line: "And tonight when I'm losing control, I will drink to the queen of my soul."

Sigh!
